DueNorth #2 - Haypi Prologue Comp - "The Age of Adventure"

After eons of heavy use, the minerals on land have finally been depleted and the rich underwater seabed became the remaining source for precious resources.

Desperate kingdoms started fighting each other with mighty warships for the riches of the seas. Great armadas of ships battled in week long skirmishes. Through the years, the loss were heavy for all sides. With the scarcity of resources, the war machines that were broken were not replaced. Soon, the generals were not able to keep the war going. They needed a new plan.

A group of wise scholars found ancient writings of a gateway which can open the door to a new world. A world where the land is pure and virgin. A world where everything is still plentiful. A world where there can be peace. All it takes are the sacred relics of each kingdom to be joined together to form a key to the gateway.

After years of negotiations, the leaders of each kingdom finally agreed upon meeting at a neutral location to merge the relics. They sent their best ships and crew to protect and transport the relics. One by one, the convoy transporting the relics departed their home port towards the destination with cheers of the people heard behind them.

The people at the ports eagerly waited. One week passed... and then another... and then another with no news. Their best hope was lost. Angry and in despair, the people revolted and the kingdoms collapsed.

From the ashes emerged powerful port cities. They became trade hubs for a new breed of sailors who rely not only on their skills in warfare, but also their abilities as merchants. Crafty engineers used the limited resources available to develop nimble wooden submarines with sonar and oxygen technology to explore the seabed. These advances gave sailors the ability to mine resources and scavenge any treasures under the deep blue sea.

Who knows what is resting there under the merciless sea? Silently... waiting... to be discovered. The age of adventure has begun.

I generally didn't care for most of the post-apocalyptic type entries, but this one is great. Good job!

I am glad you all liked it.

I had to figure out what the game is based on the information given.

From the magazine illustrations, I made the back story on why a submarine was made out of wood and how come there is sonar and oxygen technology (seems like Steampunk like world).

"...8 sets of different priceless relics from 8 various sites..."

So there isn't 8 pieces of the relic in total, but more. I incorporated it into the story.

The part I wasn't sure of was what happened to you after to find all the pieces.

"...they will get a key to open a door to the future. After that more fabulous elements will be displayed for you."

This could be another game level (like Hell for Diablo) where the rules could be different or another server all together. I left it kind of vague so they can fill it in. I wanted it to be something that gave people hope.

I wanted to flesh it out even more but then I will be writing a whole world and not just a prologue. :D

lol. I kept wanting to do that with my prologues too. I kept having to remind myself that they already had the storyline and stuff made.
