Retreating cats...

So I'm building a cav army, but everywhere I read I see a cav can't hit a retreating cat. My understanding is if a cat moves foward turn 1 and then waits until cavs are in range, they can just move back and avoid being hit by cavs another turn. Is this correct and if so what is a cav army supposed to do?

Re: Retreating cats...
It all depends on the specifics of the battle based on each player's speed points. So this could happen, but it is not guaranteed to happen, it is different in every situation.
Good luck!

All right then, if both players have max speed, techs, and equipment will/can this happen? Thanks for the reply though

Yes, this should be able to happen. Picture it this way:
ICavs.I. i
I......I. i. 145
I......I. i
I......I. V
I......I
I......I
ICats.I. i
I......I. i. 145
I......I. i
I......I. V
That leaves them the same distance away from eachother as before the move, thus not letting the cavalry attack.

I'm trying out a cavalry army also. First off, you MUST have high speed! You could get a lvl 15 horse like me. And if your speed is high enough, you should be able to hit the cavs no matter what in two turns.

If the attacker uses cats and the defender uses cavs, cavs can't hit cats if cats are going backward.
Re: Retreating cats...
I've used this quite a bit. There has been an update since the last time i've used this, but I did notice that the cavs could hit a retreating cat if the cat had really low speed. Something technical with the speed of both and the range of the cav. I'm guessing the cav has to stop to attack and the cat keeps moving. The cat must be able to move faster than the cav can attack, but I don't know the exact specifics of why it works like this.

retreating cats can avoid an attack for a turn if they move back from the edge of the cavs move distance, out of the distance from before the turn. then they get an extra attack. however, if the cavs survive, they will take the cats the following turn.

Re: Retreating cats...
Since the cavs have the higher speed, they move first, all the way up to the cats. Then the cats move, and if they move back more than 40, they're out of range of the cavs. I believe this trick can only be used by the defender, though.
