i have the same problem, however now no one will attack me even though i dont run as large an army as then i have left 30K out for 24 hours and no one has hit me, it is a blessing to be seen as a warlord but it is also a curse
how do you let people know if your hot cakes are selling well?

in S12 most of the even slightly strong people are perfectly fine with it. i have come across a few lower levels that dont like it but id have to agree that you shouldnt really crop low levels unless they crop you. now im more conservative about cropping because ive made most of my area's players quit, or be more smart with their oases  my personal opinion is that if they are level 10 or higher they can be cropped, although cropping them every day is not really necessary (that has happened a few times to people i know; they couldnt even take an oasis without it being taken for weeks on end).

Re: Poll: Cropping. Dirty play or fair game?

To crop or not to crop that is the question

On my server, and it is still MY server till the merge ;) I have received many emails/pms about my views on cropping, I have responded the same to each one of them, and have been asked to throw my two cents into the forums.

I personally feel like cropping is a cheap way of earning prestige, and a very low and dishonorable act. It’s appears to be the easy road, but in the end it’s truly a huge waste of time. I can’t give you exact numbers, but chances are the first time you attempt to crop a player with a significant army, you are going to be unsuccessful, and all you managed to do is start the process of tit for tat with that player, and even if you are successful, you still begin the tit for tat process. I’ve seen it go on for weeks on end, all that time the players involved are so concerned with being cropped they waste valuable scouting time. The act creates this ongoing and pointless exchange between two player to “one up” the other, while none of them earn a stitch of press. People get frustrated, alliances are called upon for help, and wars break out. Meanwhile all that yummy press out on the map is sitting out there waiting to be eaten up by some other general, like me, that can’t be bothered with such trivial nonsense.

I have not earned one stitch of my press from cropping. Ask anyone of the players on 13, and look at my press count, clearly an indication that press can be earned without cropping. If I want to hit a player THAT badly, then I will “stalk” them, hunt them down, watch them day and night, and one day, when they mess up, and they will, I will be there to destroy them, by their own folly. I can not begin to describe the satisfaction that comes from playing this way. I have had to wait months to hit someone, but once I do, dang it’s a beautiful thing :D
Now with that all being said, I will crop during times of war, not for press, but to wear down and cripple my enemy. I consider it psychological warfare in that case, I will hunt down every single stitch of owned property by a player and take it, all day and all night if need be, I will keep my enemy so dang busy and exhaust him to the point where he/she submits. It’s highly effective.

So those are my views. Enjoy. Syn :D

Cropping another player is weak. Although it is a feature of the game it shows no honor. Simply engage in a battle rather than take a stab at them as they sleep. I do feel cropping is okay however, if someone does it first to you.

Cropping is dirty.
When you are at war its different. WAR IS WAR. Don't crop and cry when you are cropped and wiped. YOU CAN STILL HAVE A LARGE ARMY WITHOUT THE NEED OF CROPPING FOR PRESTIGE. Called respect of others just like you dont farm actives.. its out of respect.

I have to go with rico, and any1 else who has said that it is fine, cropping someone is perfectly fine, and if you don't want to be cropped and starved, don't keep an army that can starve, but if u cry about being cropped, you shouldn't be playing a WAR game, because starving an enemy was a very useful tactic in medieval times, so it is perfectly fine here, although it should only be on old servers, so new players don't quit after being cropped once or twice
