Haypi Prologue Competition Entry

Deep into the Oceanic Age, the submarine surfaced as the latest technology. Ports could now chart the ocean and its floor like never before. Across the world, port cities became enveloped in a rush to explore the depths of the unknown ocean. Inventions like the steam engine and sonar radar were becoming port standards. The urge to advance created commerce across the ocean, allowing ports to accumulate wealth unlike any they had previously known.
At the heart of this Maritime Revolution, a submarine was trolling along the ocean floor when, in a twist of fate, the pod discovered a strange, ancient relic. A new obsession rose to find the treasures hidden under the sea. Rumors grew of a secret key to untold knowledge and riches that could be found when one possessed the 8 sets of Ocean Relics. These relics were told to have existed since the Ancient Deities controlled the Seven Seas and flooded the world in spite of mankind. Ports now devoted all of their resources to being the first to unlock the great secrets concealed at the pressured depths of the watery abyss...

Would Haypi prefer and actual story with characters or something broad to allow no gender bias?
