It is a "trick" that only those who have played the game long enuf to find out. It has nothing to do with skills. If the developers happen to see this post, to make the game better and more tactical wise, you should let the Cav to do their damage in close range according to the speed sequence. It would make much more sense and not grim the new comer's fun.

It's a secret that you learn from playing. It's probably there on purpose and it just gives players who have played a lot a slight advantage over others... Nothing too big though.

hmm i never knew about the moving backwards thing before lol. that will be useful in the future ;) and yes archers are horrible!! the ratio that they take out other units is too bad. like i was attacking a lvl 5 oasis with 2k arch and they got wiped lol

Maxed Archers ( Speed, Marching, shooting etc. ) Combined with a decent cavalry army could easily destroy anyone lol. For example Im building a cat army but If anyone who had the same amount of archers ( in terms of crop ) as I have cats I'd get owned. Ie. If I had 200 cats I'd need 1000 archers to have the same crop consumption and If both of them ( maxed ) went up in a fight the archers would win.

Re: Cav doing zero damage to Cat at close combat range

Just looking through the post and finding it mildly amusing. No offense :) This wouldn't have been an issue if you had brought enough cav to wipe him in one round. On a side note, in that situation having your cats advanced far enough to target his cats while your cav were entering melee with his cats each round would have been your best bet, for future reference. These are things you will learn as you continue to gain valuable combat experience. Best of luck and happy haypiing.
