Troops All of A sudden starving

I had around 7.9k cats out. I had them hunting for a while and recalled. when they were harvested i hunted them again, but in an oases i had just hunted in. So i knew the hunt would be unsuccessful. so when as soon as the time hit 0 i harvested. i noticed then that that around 5.2k cats only came back. It said i starved but i had 150 k crop and was going 9 k positive crop. I want to kno what happened and if there is anything that can be done about it ?? i wasnt attacked because there is no war report and my turrets havent been touched. can someone plz explain ? and can i get my troops back ??
