Conquered sub cities and troops

I was just wondering, what happens to troops If they are hunting from a sub city and that sub city is conquered by somebody else.

They disappear. Same with dispatched troops that haven't made it to their destination yet.

You wont lose prestige, but you will lose the troops.

That's what I thought, just had an expert tell me they return to main city which I thought was strange. Tyvm.

they do return to the city<,< eventaully server lag makes it take awhile but they do indeed return<,<
