It was not developed in English so people could use that as an excuse to say "this is an exclusive English club and if you don't like it go away." It hurts me so much when I hear people say, "If you don't want to talk like me, get out of here!"
It especially hurts when experts and mods say things like:
>>>All I'm trying to say is why download an English game if you don't want to >>>speak English, and make a big deal about it and make our jobs harder?
Do you really think that by being themselves and making friends in their own languages people are out to get you?
Weird, first post and its on this because I feel very strongly about this. No offence intended for anybody but this seems very very arrogant of western culture to say (and this is to sum it up) this is a english game if you don't speak english than you shouldn't be playing.
How do you speak a different language in alliance chat before finding out who actually does speak it on your server to start one? If WC seems a little spammed with people asking for referals in english, wouldn't a differnt language stand out a little better to find out if someone else speaks the same language than just ignoring a full english text block?
It doesn't matter where you live and if english is the dominant language of your country; in this day and age, if you're going to treat someone else a different way just because you don't understand what they're saying and are not making the effort to find out what they are saying, than it is considered in my opinion discrimination and bigotry due to pure ignorance.
On a personal note, english is my third language, and I speak it and write quite fluently. English is not the number 1 spoken language on the planet, just the most common across all nations because of the economical strength of the english speaking nations in the past which forced nations of lesser economies to learn english so that they may be able to communicate better.
Times do change however and there may come a time where you're shoes are reveresed and perhaps the practice of patience, tolerance, and sensitivity to other languages might be beneficial to you in the future instead of retaining and old age superiority complex mentality in thinking that english is the end of all languages. There may come a time where you are forced to learn a different language just to be able to compete or survive in a ever changing global environment; which is starting to happen now with the mandarin language.
Just some food for thought and no intention to offend, but it just seems to me that there some very arrogant responses and comments even from moderators, admins or whatever that are associated with the game and not just your average user. (keyword "some")
Cheers and just putting my 2 cents as my first post

P.S. I know quite a few MMO's in other countries where english using speakers who do not speak the language go and play the game too (directed to the comment of "All I'm trying to say is why download an English game if you don't want to"). Most of the time they are treated quite respectfully and are helped along by those that do speak a little english, rather than berated and picked upon just because they don't speak the same language. They download the game because they want to play it, find out more about it, and eventually enjoy it, not to be harrassed just because they speak a different tongue.
