It's all on your fortune+troops. The more troops you have the more money you get. The better fortune you got the better the stuff you receive. It's believed that if you hunt for 3-4 days you get amazing stuff. But no one has proven or tried this.

Hunting for ~12 is just to protect the oasis from being hunted in before you harvest. To lower the chance that is. The longer you hunt the better, you'll never get Crowns or Scepters from hunts for hunting for just 12 hours no matter how many troops you send, it takes days.

The longest you can hunt for is 10 days (240 Hours) before the troops automatically call back and you get nothing from the hunt.
