Re: Celebrate your experts!

Furthermore, I posit this query:

Why is it asked of haypi players to nominate experts, yet when an expert nominated is cited as being unworthy of the job, any critique is against the rules? We can nominate them, but when they get it, we can't speak out if they're doing the title a disservice?

Carcinogen: "Defensive behavior is built into *normal* behavior patterns at this age, but this is undesirable in an expert." --- You need to realize that every signle human is different. Everyone develops differently. You cannot stereotype teenagers, especially those on a game who you haven't even heard their voice or seen.

Please don't tell me what I need to realize. Here is a tip for conversations as you get older, get married/girlfriends/whatever. ANY sentence that starts with the word "you" and doesn't end in a compliment has almost a 100% chance of putting people on the defensive and/or offending them. We know where that ends up.

YOU look great today! - Excellent
You need to clean the kitchen. - Bad
You need to realize... - Bad

No charge for that one.

Every human is different, but only in unusual circumstances do they deviate wildly from a normal baseline. I absolutely CAN stereotype. Doctors and scientists do. Behavioral psyschologists do. Pediatric researchers do. The stereotype may not apply to an individual, but it will generally apply to the norm in a suitably sized sample set. That sample set is the group that I am asking not to be eligible for the Expert title.

I'm not sure what the implication of vocal or visual characteristics have to do with development of adolescents in this case.

Re: Celebrate your experts!

Figure I'd lump my two cents in here... for whatever it may be worth.

Note that I'm steering clear of the conversation originally brought up in this topic since I wasn't there/know nothing about it.

Foam...wow to be honest, I was at first very drawn to your logical thought and well put arguments. I couldn't understand why you bugged so many people at all. That is, until you showed up on s14 and immediately started trying to get a rise out of me.
Most players that know me know that I could care less for arguments and I'm generally fair and keep out of anything that isn't my business.

I'd have given a lot more credit to this post if I hadn't seen for myself your judgemental nature of anyone bearing the expert title.

What YOU may see as unjust, unfair, ridiculous, laughable or anything even remotely similar, others may not.
If you're doing 'your bit' by reporting these seemingly undeserving experts to support, then that's that.
Support are aware and they'll do or not do whatever they see fit. They're the ones with the chat logs and general information required to make an assessment.

Two little points for you, Foam.
Firstly, acting like this makes you seem bitter and too emotionally involved in the situation thus giving your opinion less credit. When you consider this, you may also need to consider that your choice of action (regarding expert/s) may be somewhat over the top or unnecessary. Kind of like the whole spilt milk thing, you know?
Additionally, if enough people shared your opinion, I'm fairly certain action would have been taken by this stage. That also tells you something.
I'm not saying this IS the case, but it can very easily seem so.

Secondly, why in the world do you care so much about all this? It's a game, it's there to be enjoyed and if people play it rather than breaking the rules, pushing the boundaries or deliberately trying to get a rise out of others, mutes and experts would be a rare topic of conversation.

Isn't that what everybody does? Everybody tries to annoy experts they don't like and push them to a muting point and then cries about it.

Course, this doesn't involve me, Bai bai.

Re: Celebrate your experts!

I think you guys need to get over the name and read the posts.

First off, I have already stated that my main annoyance isn't the experts, it's the complete stonewall people get when they go to staff if any wrongdoing has been done. Adina, I'm quite surprised you'd bring up my actions in wc, so let me bring up yours. I posted a thread very similar to this one. It was questioning a mute that was unwarranted. And YOU adina, allowed it to remain. So I guess this would in fact be the SECOND of my arguments you agree with. Might be time for you to decide if I'm lying or telling the truth.

Also, adina, if you will re-read my posts, you'll see that I have indeed busted expert chops. But like I said earlier, when people are NOMINATED BY PAYING CUSTOMERS OF THIS GAME, then told that any criticisms they may have about an expert misusing his/her power is illegal, then sorry, a bias will form. I won't defend it, because there's no need. Most of my dealings with experts have been negative.

However, if you take my advice and re-read my posts, you will see that I have also said that there are decent experts I have spoken with concerning the behavior of others. I've even spoken with you, adina, and it was very polite and I even thanked you for allowing my thread to remain open. So you might forgive me for not expecting quite the broadside.

Re: Celebrate your experts!

Take note please that I deliberately made no reference to the initial topic and I stated why.
I also only allowed you a third party perspective on how you're coming off in your posts. We can't see through others' eyes, so I was helping you out.

I don't want to argue, nor will I.
And yes in my dealings with you prior to what I mentioned earlier in World chat gave me a very different impression. You'll have to forgive me if the veiled insult at me in chat partially changed my mind.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions and if I had it my way, more opinions would be freely voiced when kept within the realms of respect and decency, but this isn't my show and neither is it yours.

At some stage, we have to sit back and lap up the things we love about this game, it's people etc and slowly and carefully do what we can do better those parts that don't suit us to perfection.

You're intelligent and well spoken, Foam. I'd love to see what you could accomplish using methods more open minded, positive and patient but I loathe to think it's just going to be Foam on his soapbox from here on out.

Re: Celebrate your experts!

You talk about keeping your eyes open adina, and that's an admirable stance to take. So use your open eyes to read what I am saying. If there is a trend in any environment, that trend will be the subject of positive or negative bias.

Now. In an earlier post I stated that I am attempting to chang my rather confrontational behavior into something a little more ubderstated. I believe I am succeeding, I slowly.

Back to bias. I am, if anyone has not noticed, biased in my view of experts and staff. This isn't because I love my "soapbox", or because I'm some fool that clamped for attention. It's because someone made a rather large mistake in allowing a few people to be what amounts to a spokesman for this game. They mishandle people, an when that occurs, nonchalantly tell them to report it. Why? Because they know that a report amounts to absolutely nothing.

So, as a part of the new iteration of the foamcups identity, I took my complaints directly to someone I believed could assist me in this matter. By directly I mean real-time chat, screenshots o said incident, and discussion. Adina, that was days ago. It wasn't mailed, it wasn't emailed, it wasn't telegrammed. It was communicated to this person I real time.

And so far, nothing has been done. No actions. No response to messages. Nothing. So, adina, please, enlighten me as to what this is? Is it because staff inboxes are so full of complaints? According to your argument, that wouldn't make sense. So that leads me to believe that after all avenues were exhausted, in the end, protection of experts is put above accountability.

Well, you say, what if the mute was legal? Well, again, that wouldn't make sense either, as shadetale and another expert have both told me that it was a mute that neither of them would speak for. So that leads us right back to my original idea that reporting to staff abuse from any expert would counter the environment of cronyism that is projected by staff.

I'm not trying to argue with you adina. I like you. I told you I appreciated your allowing my thread to remain open, and even apologized to you if ID gotten you in any trouble. So in reality, this isn't a soapbox. I'm not here preaching my innocence in an unfair situation. I telling you, shadetale, and Tracy if she ever stumbles across this, that it's not only the jerks in this game that make people not want to play. It's also the people in power who refuse to open their eyes to any power tripping going on.
Can't stop, won't stop.

Re: Celebrate your experts!

I would dearly love to reply in full but I'm getting the 'get back to work' looks through the window, so I'll make it quick.

I'm a player like everyone else but I also carry the tag of Forum Moderator and Expert in game. Now, that doesn't make me any more special than anyone else, but it usually gives me the upper hand when contacting support.
I find even to this day that sometimes getting an answer out of support is like pulling teeth BUT, I'm in the fantastic spot of being able to understand the why of it.

With all due respect to support, this game has absolutely shot off a boat load faster than anyone could have expected and they're seemingly trying to manage a 5 person job EACH and it's clearly not that effecient.
Now while we, as consumers, are probably feeling like "well that's not OUR fault!", it's not really theirs either.

In short, they really are THAT busy. They really do have hundreds of emails and in game letters every single minute and experts nagging for this and that on pal throughout the entire day.
Unfortunately because of this, so many things have to wait but you can use us to speed up the processes of serious matters.

My inbox is always open.

At the end of the day, no promises have been made and we're all cruising along having a great time on this free app.
Every opinion is absolutely vital and those being put forward in a decent manner ARE in fact, being heard. (Many changes on the way spurred on by the voices of the players).
These things just take time, I suppose.

I'm seriously not even going to re-read what I just wrote... it's messy and all over the place, isn't it?
Don't stress, Foam. I'm switching between four programs in between each sentence. I probably romp you in terms of spelling errors and terrible grammar!

It's cool homie. Don't wanna get caught playing a game at work, especially in this economy. But I hear you. Maybe we can hook up on pal when you're free and I can show you the same images I showed another.
