Hey im wondering how do you use cav and archs together?
Re: How do you use cav and arch effectfuly together?
This is a tricky setup. Archers are almost a waste unit, as they have low attack, low range, low defense, low life, moderate speed, and moderate overload.
Anyways the only way to really use them effectively is to wait and blitz. At the start of the war, hold all your units back, wait for him to come to you. Once he gets into a range that he can hit you, move cavs forward. Followed by archers. Cavs will take the brunt of the blow. By the time the cavs can hit the archers should have moved up enough to hit as well. Only way I can think of how to use archers and not get them completely slaughtered.
FYI: You should stop using archers all together and go with a cav/cat tactic. You will spend ALOT less resource and time rebuilding armies. (Thats if your archers don't get wiped.)

although archers are seen as useless (and i dont use them) they are especially effective against cavelry and can obliterate a cavelry army effectively for minimum loss if used with infantry. that apparently there only use

*sigh*
They're not worthless, they're just cheap.
5 archers = 10 crop and 300 attack
1 cat = 10 crop and 300 attack
1 cat = 1800.780,990,250
5 archers = 1550,1250,1600,400
Factor in the lower cost of stone and iron compared to wood (most servers) and the difference is there.
You'll need to invest in defence more than attack to make up for the losses, but a cav & archer army would be quite effective. If you were fighting other cats you wouldn't need to be so concerned with speed, as archers are the faster unit and would strike first (another advantage).
Plan :
Charge the cav, forcing the opponent to target cav before they hit. Advance Archers.
Strike archers against cats asap.
Sure, so they're not as easy to use as the "ha ha I have more catapults than you!" strategy found on servers 8-14, but they are certainly not worthless.
Finally, if you have more archers than the fort you're attacking does, you can free up your cats for another strike against the inf. Which means you can replace the 10% rule with a 7-8% rule

.... iron is more expensive later on
Re: How do you use cav and arch effectfuly together?
also archers are effective if you are about to be farmed as they are the most equal in resources this is an efective plan it also puts farmers of. although what lord_phil says is true the effect of them against people who specialise in cats army they are completely ineffective as most people wont attack like that making them useless apart from in taking forts and oasises.

let your archers starve, then build lots of cavs, and catapults.... cavs for attacking other people, and catapults for defending your cities.

for an archer/cav army
1:10 archer= 1 cat
2:double crop consumption to cat army
3:need max speed max shoot high attack
4:fast kill prestige for high rank player
5:only recommand for 3rd duke or up
6:keep more cav to prevent loses
