I used 60k cav army for lvl8 fort with 112 cav loss. My stats is attack 65 defense 140, speed 145 and fortune 30 with max healing
Re: Cav strategies
I can do L1 to L5 forts with no loss of troops using
No of cav = (fort inf count)/1.16
No of Archers = (fort archers count)*2
I have L8 shooting and L9 marching.
Stats are low at 50+ for speed, 22 for Def and 35 for attk.
The good thing about this is that I can finish the attk in 3 turns with no command needed. Just charge. The distances vs archer range are just nice that the elements kill one another in simultaneous turns.
Turn 1 all Archers dead
Turn 2 all Cavs dead
Turn 3 all Inf dead.
Done, collect prize.
Most cost/time effective and speed is ok.
Havent fig out how to do so for L6 forts onwards because the Cats will need to be dealt with.

How is the turn based command strategy like when you do this?
I assume your techs are all maxed out?

I was actually trying to kill off some troops before I went on vacation so I didn't have to feed them and was surprised when they won the battle with minimal losses.
I might try that. Did you get a few lucky strikes?
I don't remember any lucky strikes, but you wouldn't need any anyway except for against infantry during the 1st attack on the fort.
Funny thing was I wasn't even meaning to take the fort when I attacked, I was just trying to kill off some troops before I went on vacation so they wouldn't starve, but what do you know...they took it with relative ease.

Re: Cav strategies
If your cavs are fast enough to be in range of enemy cavs in round 1...
Round 1: enemy cavs eliminated
Round 2: enemy foots and archers eliminated
Round 3: enemy cats eliminated
Just bring enough cavs to eliminate foots in a single round (round 2). You will sustain 2 rounds of fire from archers and cats though forts contain far fewer archers and especially cats vs. foots. Thus foots is the controlling factor.
So for a level 8 fort you can use cavs only but they should be able to kill 80K foots in a singe round when they come in range round 2. The exact # depends on your attack attributes and treasure.

Re: Cav strategies
Supposed with 145 spd and max marching tech, when attacking a L8 fort, the cavs will move forward 825 in rd 1 across the 900 field length. However, it will not be able to attack any one of the fort troops because it is still 75 away and the attack reach of Cav is only 40. If so, that means the fort troops will next move forward in the same rd 1 and attack you first althought you had move forward first.
Is this correct? If so, isn't it a dumb move to move forward on rd 1 even with full speed attribute and tech?

Re: Cav strategies
Or alternatively, is the program written such that in each round, the troops act in 2 phases. First phase is a movement phase and the second phase is the attack phase?
In each phase, the speed governs who actions first. If so, then it makes sense to put high speed cavs upfront in the first round. It will allow the close contact of cavs to all the other elements which will then lower the attk power of the long range troops and at the same time attk the inf and cav at one go after the movement phase since they will both move forward as well..
hmm... any expert opinion on this?
