Hunting Troops in a Sub City

When somebody takes your sub city what happens to the troops out hunting? Do you lose them or do they return to the main city.

Sorry if this has already been addressed, but I could not find the answer.

Thanks.

It hasn't happened to me yet, but I have read on forums in a few places that the troops just disappear (ie. You lose them). From what I have heard, you even get a nice letter stating that your troops have been lost.

Re: Hunting Troops in a Sub City

So is it a bad idea to put troops in a sub city? Or do you just depend on turrets/traps to protect it? Basically, I'm wondering what good is a sub city if I'm going to move troops there just to lose them? If I leave them in the city someone attacks the city for prestige. If I send them hunting someone attack the city and I lose them.

No, it's not a bad idea. If you build subs in a strategic location, such as by a cluster of forts, you'll need/want troops there to farm them. Also, a sub out in the middle of nowhere is useful for hunting; the oases are more likely to be untouched.

Yeah, I understand that, but how do you protect your army from a higher level player? If he attacks your city while they are home they get wiped out, if they are hunting and he takes your city they still get wiped out. How do you keep from losing troops in a sub city?

Re: Hunting Troops in a Sub City

You really don't need to worry about that very much at a low level bobby. A player can only have as many sub cities as his title will allow which is one sub city at lvl 4, two at 7, three at 10, etc. Basically you have the ability to have one more sub city every time you level up to a new type of title (ie civilian to baron -- baron to viscount -- viscount to earl, etc.).

Now, that being said, most people in the game create their own new cities and already have the max number of cities they can have. Therefore if a level 10 player attacks your city and gets your loyalty to zero, but already has three of his own sub cities, then he will not be able to occupy yours. He will win the battle, but will not take over the city.

Now the reason you shouldn't worry about it too much at a low level is because the only good reason for someone to actually try and take your sub city is because they take it over as is...meaning with all the upgrades you have already done. So if someone tries to take over a sub city they usually go for a highly upgraded city. Otherwise it makes more sense to simply build there own and upgrade it as they can put it in a location they want the city.

So you really shouldn't worry too much about it. Sub cities aren't taken over too often and when they are, its because an alliance goes for a high ranking sub city that is nicely leveled up (usually higher than simple lvl 15 which required the use of coins).

Also, don't leave your troops at your base to protect it. If you do, they WILL get wiped out and you will lose prestige. ALWAYS send them hunting when you are not playing.
