Default General Tactics and Strategy

I believe that we need to be able to change the default battle tactics for auto battles. This is because almost everyone in the game have experienced losing troops due to the fact that you did not command a battle which otherwise you could have won easily with no losses.

This is a particularly frustrating situation because you may have done all the hard work of preparing, scouting, building up army for days but you could lose it all in a flash. You could have forgotten that you were attacking, you receive a phone call right before you're about to land or your connection simply dropped. If you're a lower level player who lose his entire army that you have been building for days or even weeks, it's an incredibly disheartening situation, at worst it could cause a player to leave the game completely, at best it turns them off about the game which may cause them to be less active and less likely to refer to their friends.

However I see the real challenges for the developers for this feature is just how in-depth the battle tactics can be altered. If it's a simple tweak of being able to set the default army command from "Forward" to "Wait", it would certainly provide a big help in most occasion, but it will not help all situations.

The situations where some problems may arise is that if the target has army as well as traps and turrets. In which case even if the player defeats all troops from the target the battle will continue to a draw.

I'm not sure what exactly the best method would be to implement this feature, but I am positive that the vast majority of players would welcome some form of editable default strategy. Please feel free to suggest how you think Haypi can add this feature.

I agree as well. It shouldn't be too hard to change the default for them.

Well the system now is ok but it still needs some improvements.

I believe that this system, just like many others will eventually improve in future updates. I know that it's annoying to be experiencing problems like this, but at least they're functional and not buggy.

Re: Default General Tactics and Strategy

I could see how this could get very complicated, very quickly; but adding a simple function like "standing orders" shouldn't be too difficult to impliment. (I say this as a developer, but one with no mac xp.)

I support this suggestion.

It also shouldn't be hard to program into certain orders to make a certain unit move forward when all enemy units are killed.

Re: Default General Tactics and Strategy

What if a new tech was added "Tactics" The higher the level the more actions you could preset. I think this should only apply to how troops react in your cities when you are attacked. In your kingdom managment you could preset how the troops react in a given city the higher the level of tactics, the more troops you could preset.

just a thought. :D

i agree because sometimes ill attack a fort that has cats.. my dumb infantry keep moving forward so although i kill the cats i loose some infantry... i wouldn't mind a setting for infantry doesnt move unless their side is cleared of everything except traps and turrets

Re: Default General Tactics and Strategy

The most part of the game is building troops, making your army stronger, and then when all is lost to rebuild again. Honestly i believe things will like sylarius said will improve in future, but i mean losing troops is just part of game. training troops is part of the game.. Making attacks is apart of the game, Being attacked is part of game.

I've lost my 3k cats, 5k cavs, about 2k inf and 400 archers in less than 5 minutes, but i mean it was my fault.. i forgot about it, walked away from my ipod, i cant blame the system tho for my own mistake..
