defender always attack first if speed is tied

Thats a moot point since the defender in this case does not have max Speed, but the attacker already stated that he did.
Re: Cat vs horse. Expert/advanced player advice
If Attacker and defender got same max speed 145, defender will hit first, but defender need to have the unit forward, otherwise attacker hit first. this is from my war experience, though not sure why.
Re: Cat vs horse. Expert/advanced player advice
Both parties dont have to be maxed speed. Kmho posted logs that show he was attacker with max speed. Horse forward 825. The defender had garbage speed, cats moving at 64. Max = 137. This thread is pretty much dead and the concern needs to be forwarded to thomas. Thanks to all those who responded.

Precisely what I was getting at.
In truth, this event may not really be a glitch. It may be just a flaw in the design. If we are to consider this the norm, it means that the sequence of actions within a turn are spread a bit differently than what we thought.
Instead of being the logical sequence of [Higest Speed Unit's Move > Highest Speed Unit's Attack > Lowest Speed Unit's Move > Lowest Speed Unit's Attack], the game might have split the resolution of action by grouping rather than unit. Perhaps we are looking at a game mechanic that does [Higest Speed Unit's Move > Lowest Speed Unit's Move > Highest Speed Unit's Attack > Lowest Speed Unit's Attack].
If I was to make any assumptions as to why they sequenced battle that way it would be because they perhaps felt the need to give the slower units a chance to close the distance of a faster unit's advance and thus giving them the ability to move the red bar a bit further ahead than they should have had if the faster unit moved its entire distance.
The key now is to verify whether this is in fact a glitch, or if this is an instance of poor game design.

try it in an oasis it doesnt work.
only for max speed cav, even your horse is 824 the glitch doesn't occur
Re: Cat vs horse. Expert/advanced player advice
Doing an Oasis test might be inaccurate as the units there will always have base stats, while a players will never be base due to the default 20 points to most stats.
Re: Cat vs horse. Expert/advanced player advice
I suggested this at the beginning of the thread that the game checks movement and THEN attacks. It may have nothing to do with max speed at all. I haven't tested it, or seen any other situation with this happening. Great input though. Nice to see some logic involved.

Re: Cat vs horse. Expert/advanced player advice
whatever party has the higher speed attacks first so if
cavalry speed 100
catapult speed 101
catapults attack first
so for best results max speed out or at least know that your attacker has less speed than you

Right, this is common knowledge. However, you have to pay attention to the SS given. The attacker has max speed, while the defender falls WAY too short at a meager 64.
What that means is that the defender has a Speed value of 0, and a Marching of 9 (63.5), or 10 (65). Not sure which one of those is the actual value. I am thinking the game rounds up (haven't verified yet), so I will go with tech L9.
Regardless, 64 Speed is nowhere near close to 825 so the defender would go first. Indeed this is either a glitch, or a flawed combat design.
