Re: Army
All through the beginning I trained Cats and Inf only. Later on, I started building archers as well when I was active enough to farm every two hours to feed an insane army.
I used archers to be able to continue to reduce infantry size on high level forts while taking out the other troop types. (Most people I knew were calling back from level 10 forts before infantry reached their front lines and attacking again to beat it before the troops regenerated much. Having the archers continue to do damage on wait, I never had to do this.)
Obviously now a Cavalry build is the most fun and interesting. You lose a lot whether you command well or not, but it's a LOT of fun and detrimental to large Catapult builds.
There are a couple of random builds I'm testing out on a friends account with Archers as the core. So far it's been interesting.
