Lifesaver Hydra

In ladder, I was facing against a gold scythe with martyrdom. Is martyrdom suppose to kill the hydra with lifesaver? The last time I double checked, martyrdom was a physical skill and the definition of lifesaver is that "the monster cannot be killed directly by physical attacks."
