Mods winning review prizes?

It has been stated that up until a point, mods were actually voting for the winners.

Among the actual prize winners, two were mods. I compre this to 1/3 of lottery winnings going to people working for a lottery company. Some argue that they didn't vote for themselves, but that's not enough for me.

What do you think?

I think it's fair. They are unpayed players, just happen to do more work. There writing skills were good, so they got voted for. Nobody voted for themselves, it was other people. The end, it's done.

I haven't the faintest idea of what your talking about...

That's nice, what's your point? Ontop of giving you a chance to win a FREE iPad for less than half an hours work, Thomas and Co. have otherthings to deal with like making the FREE game you play better... For FREE. They never had to offer anything like this to you or anyone but they have. Be patient and understand that they've got a lot more work to do than offer iPads and iPods at no cost to you.

So what's done is done. I can't say it any better then Vayne did. And it wasn't a lottery. It was a contest to see who could write the best reviews. It just so happened that 2 of the best ones were written by mods

You know exactly what I'm talking about shade. I personally don't think mods should have been voting at all but it's fine with me except for the fact that they voted for eachother among them.

Re: Mods winning review prizes?

To put it in slightly nicer terms than Vayne.. -ahem-

Just so you know, not every mod was allowed access to the forum we did the judging in. Actually, each reviewer was hand selected because they were known to be reliable, trustworthy, and able to complete a job. We were told to do it unbiased, we did our job to the best of our extent. Yes, Vayne won and Deathscyth got third (I believe), but to be fair, Deathscyth wasn't even one of the reviewers.

Does it not make sense that some of the people that dedicate the *most* of their time to Haypi would write the best reviews? Some of these guys are amazingly smart and really did write a good review - for this, we selected them to be eligible for prizes.

But to be brutally honest, the mods (Vayne is a mod) that were helping these guys out didn't get the final word. We simply created the skeleton and the support staff and developers took over from there. We were, again talking about the moderators, in NO way in control of who got the prizes; we simply pointed out the good reviews.

Mods may put more effort than others into the game, but it doesn't mean they automatically put more effort into their reviews. I personally think that 10-15 minutes, which Vayne said he spent, doesn't show much commitment to writing a good review. Not pointing fingers, but I just wanna say I spent well over 5 hours writing and revising mine. I edited it three times as well. Check out the gamefaqs one. It's practically flawless, because they have very strict standards.

Re: Mods winning review prizes?

I guarantee you Vayne edited his some and put slightly more into it than 15-20 minutes. We once talked about it.

And though that is great, unfortunately the contest is over. If it means anything, your review had 3 votes from the mods/support staff? Don't worry, as stated somewhere, there will be other contests later down the road. Perhaps then all mods will have to be uninvolved who will be participating in the selection process.

But right now, the best I can do is promise to you this contest was picked over as fairly as possible.

Indeeed ><

But the winners have already been chosen, so there's nothing left. Wait till another competition comes along similar to this.

I'll open a Tgread in suggestions.
