Gifting

So I had 2 friends join the game. One of them happened to get a male fire dragon which i can breed with my female fire dragon.

So i asked them to 'gift' their dragon to me and i will gift them back a high grade monster.

But for some reason they can't gift me anything, they say the 'gift' option is greyed out. I tried gifting them a monster and it went through but then it became greyed out for me, thus not allowing me to gift them any other monsters.

Is there something wrong with the game? Or is there no 'trading' allowed?? (pretty odd for this type of game)

If someone can give me some clear answers on how this gift thing works i'd appreciate it. I tried to google some answers didn't find much on the subject

Re: Gifting

No trading. And, you can only gift, one time only too, from referrer to pal.

Re: Gifting

Oooh that's soooo lame lol man I was rating this game with a perfect score until that...that's just silly. As much as disallowing being able to choose a pvp opponent (though that one i can more or less understand why but still)

One of the best things about actually having friends to invite is being able to trade with them and do more joint things to help each other.

Haypi fail that one big time in my book. 4/5 stars

If anyone in the development team sees this, make a note. Perhaps for future revisions.

As a pseduo-game developer myself I know the importance of feedback. And trust me you would be wise to allow more 'pal' interactions.

In that vein let me make some quick suggestions

1. Allow pvp where you can choose your opponent freely. This is a pokemon-esque game, people want to battle their monsters with their friends or just freely challenge other players. I can see how this can be abused but it's as simple as setting it up so there's no 'bonus' given to players engaging in these pre-set battles.

No exp, money etc etc. Everyone wins.

2. There should be more flexibility with trading/gifting, seriously this is what made pokemon so awesome aside from just collecting. People working with friends or building friendships in-game should give them an advantage, I'm left feeling a bit like the game wants to curve team work. Even though there's a 'team' mode, team work isn't all just about going on the field and having ur buddy's monster next to you to attack.

Any how I do like the game a lot and have recommended it to a lot of my ol pokemon buddies, so thanks for creating it.

Re: Gifting

No way should pal trading be allowed. That is one of the stupidest ideas I ever heard. Literally everyone in the game would be making alt accts and buying eggs and sending them to their main for basically crap in return. If haypi enabled pal trading it would ruin the game for everyone and it would be pointless. I strongly believe that the game has deep enough game play that they do not need to make any more updates other than some bug fixes and add more post level activities for people who have finished everything.

Re: Gifting

Also, what would be the point of playing the game if there were no rewards? The rewards keep people interested and into the game. If everyone is trading but there is no point to even battling other than for "fun" people will get bored quickly and leave. If people have something to strive for and are rewarded for doing so they will continue to play until they have dried everything out. Pvp and ladder are places that keep people who have finished all The levels and beat the quest interested. They allow people to show their power and see how they match up against everyone else in the game. Personally I believe that haypi has the right idea right now and just needs to make a few minor adjustments and iron out the kinks and the game will be good to go.

Re: Gifting

Pal trading the stupidiest idea you've ever heard? Well i recommend you get out more...

Pokemon has made hundreds of MILLIONS world-wide on that 'stupid' concept alone.

I suggested that there be a pvp mode where you can select your opponent. This mode would give 'no reward' to prevent it being abused. Believe it or not people do enjoy challenging others, competing directly with someone etc etc

That idea is not beyond the scope of the game and i guarantee it will add a whole new layer to the game in itself as people strive to compete with others directly rather than indirectly as the current system is.

Pvp and Ladder should NEVER just be for people who have beat all levels and finished everything as you say. Each game mode should be something anyone interested could participate in. That's what makes a good game.

Ladder doens't really allow you to 'show' your power, it runs on auto. Which is a pretty big disappointment in my opinion as the Ai just isn't very bright. I'm sure we've all -facepalmed- at one of our monsters casting a weather ability at the worst possible time etc etc..

Pvp also fails at this because everyone gets boosted to max level and it basically becomes an advanced version of rock paper scissors.

What i'm advocating is true pvp, where true power can be tested, let players have both the fighting and of choosing who they fight against, an 'invite' function would be nice for example.

In case you haven't noticed this isn't Pokemon. The only reason you can send a monster to a pal is to give that new player a head start, otherwise you'll be having people breed epics without buying as many coins to get more. In Pokemon trading is a must as certain monsters are only on certain games, that's not the case here.

I like this suggestion. Quite a few times friends try to challenge each other to a dual duel on my server only to end up facing either bots or other players when really they just want to test their mettle against each other for bragging rights or to win a debate.

I like this suggestion too, though it was made several times for hd and never implemented (but haypi seems to have disowned hd).

As for the topic, trading would ruin this game. Literally every player would have an S rank of every monster worth having, everyone would have the max collection, the game would be over. Not to mention how unfair it would be to veteran players who have spent money on coins and spent endless hours playing to get where they are just to see noobs trade their way next to them at the top.

Re: Gifting

No trading in Haypi because otherwise new players could transfer their startup benefits (i.e. Draco and egg spawned epics) to existing players, giving them an unfair advantage.

Pokemon doesn't have as many startup advantages, and players pretty much have to play for a decent while before they are allowed to trade. It shouldn't be too problematic for HM to do the same by setting a trade function to be unlocked at, for example's sake, level 17.

Then again the game does fine without a trade function. If anything, its absence denies real money transfers and account farmers making a profit from the game.

edit:
i like the 'invite to pvp' function, but to prevent abuse it should only be supplemental to the existing system and give out no rewards. Basically a pvp with no incentive other than pure entertainment.
