However my experience is mb x2 , sandstorm, pod is much more effective in ladder.

With this build you can take out grass water fairly easy. Because on the dodge from sandstorm is rediculous. And AI is stupid. Water / grass types solar or torrent themselves to death against rock types. And since scythe is faster you will get pod in before they get their first torrent and solar smite. Making it hit for very little and then you have two turns after that to destroy them.

Sure martyr will take them out. But that's only one guy. Where as the build w/o martyr will take out alot more guys after you kill that grass.

Also regarding sandstorm and pod taking up two turns. You will have a very very high chance of gaining it back with a dodge. And gaining many more free turns form future dodges.

Ppl don't realize how op sandstorm and blizzard is. The dodge is just rediculous sometimes

I see, and your scythe is resurrect?

My reasoning is that the opponent is too slow to do anything about your defense reduction, anyway, so you can just spam Massive Boulder (or Matrydom to get rid of Smiter/Cygness). You just have to watch out for Pewgways with Shun or anything with water jets/smack. Massive Boulder will two hit almost anything, although you might want to get opponents like Behemoth and PoD casted Flights to suitably low amounts of health with Boulder before finishing them off with Massive Boulder. This ensures that the defense reduction does not put you into too much of a pickle with them. =)

This is an excellent skill set!

My one is very similar, except that I have Earthquake instead of Boulder. The reasoning behind this is that in the ladder tournament, my Scythe (sometimes) uses Boulder instead of Massive Boulder, even during Sandstorm.
I don't cast Sandstorm myself but that's only because my opponents tend to have this skill in abundance and it would almost always be active when I use my Scythe.
In PvP, this skill set is excellent. Some people may opt for Sandstorm instead of Power of Darkness, though. Personally, I find that Power of Darkness is better as an all around move. Most of the monsters that I can 1 hit KO with either Massive Boulder uses magical attacks so I'm not really at risk from the defence decrease. Earthquake takes care of the rest and it's pretty good for 2v2. Martyrdom takes care of the grass/water types.

Good luck!

Got it

Thank you. My scythe is still a grade E+ baby, haha a long way to go.

But I will keep this thread on record

yes mine is res.
Also that strategy is for ladder only. As it factors in AI behavior

Re: What are some good build for scythe?

Sand Storm is more towards relying on luck, if you put Power of Darkness with it. In ladder, I tend to not rely on luck as you never know when your competition will get lucky at the last second and 'ninja' (as we coin it in our server) the top spot off you.

I don't suggest using both Power of Darkness AND Sand Storm. Using both will leave you open to more defeats than just using 1. You are relying on Sand Storm and you might get lucky and dodge but you might not. 1 should be enough.

Also, just to add, I don't believe Plant and Water attacks are decreased during Sand Storm. Correct me if I'm wrong here - but I believe it's really only affecting dodge rates of types not Fire or Earth (decreasing them).

I guess it really does depend on your server. In mine, there aren't a lot of players using Water Torrent or Solar Smite because they know about the side effects and everyone has stayed clear out of them. When my Scythe faces monsters it is weak against, it will need, at the very least, 3 attacks of Massive Boulder to get it done. It is pretty much guaranteed that I will lose if I face these monsters - unless I get *extremely* lucky with Sand Storm.

My suggested skill set is useful outside of ladder as well, especially in PvP. They might change the bots' intelligence later on and if you do design a Scythe just for this, it might not work fully on the future. It's your choice, really. We've all outlined our recommendations so it just depends on you - and your server.

Good luck!
