About Dragon Boat Festival Activity

It says Crystal chests and keys will be rewarded for logging in but during this time the chest will filled only with Essence of Life , Essence of Wisdom , and Boss Essence.
My question is if I save those chests for after the activity will they still be holding those items or back to normal?

If you currently have crystal chests and keys, you can open them during the event and they should give you the new items (essences) instead of the normal prizes.

I thought he was asking whether saving the crystal chests for the event (before it starts) will give him the essences.

But yes, the event specifically says that it's only on during the event so it should go back to normal when the event ends. The essences are only there for the event period.
