Trying for my first pod but after 5 ghost chests I've gotten everything but pod. Is this normal or am I unlucky?

Pod is rare in advanced ghost chests. Keep trying.
I've only gotten two, but I've seen others with more.

You're welcome! From my experience they show up even less than Advanced Psychic Book Chests on the rewards wheel (about once in every 12-15 challenges that I've done).

I still believe it's all random. Having opened 4 chests so far, I received PoD twice and Dream Thief twice. Still trying to get Cunning.

In any case, I recommend doing SS-5 Expert Mode (the restriction is that you may only have 1 active monster) with a strong epic psychic type to save time, since there will only be a single monster on each grid as well.

Purrfection with Psychic Barrier works very well against any psychic type you may encounter in this map (Lupa is the first mini-boss), and despite its less than impressive speed Purrfection is still faster than the rest of the ghost types you may encounter (Parasitic, Misfortune, Vertebrex, Shriek - second mini-boss). Final boss for this map is Meniss, but somehow my Purrfection always get to attack first. I verified this to be due to Meniss using Cunning and thus making it attack last, so as long as your attack doesn't miss it would be a 1-hit most of the time.

I guess you could say that, since PoD is probably the best supplementary skill we have at the moment, and can be utilised for a range of monsters. Funny thing is very often (in game and in life) we don't get the things we're looking for. I've been trying to obtain Cunning with no luck so far.

Keep grinding on those Expert Modes and I'm sure you will get your PoD soon, good luck!

ive gotten two ghost books (dream thief and shadow storm) in ss 1exp. i prefer that over ss 5 because i can leech two or three other mons. you're also allowed to have potions and jellies (just in case youd need it)
