Thunder Blast vs Lightning

Thunderblast has 35 power but does double damage, Lightning has 60 power.

I am wondering how damage is calculated in game, does attack power factor in more than say the ATK stat? Can I expect similar or more damage from one or the other moves? Does getting a critical compound the damage even moreso for the 'double attack' etc.

Does anyone have any experience with the two moves?

Thunder Blast only has a chance to do double damage,(If im not mistaken). And basically it hits 2 times when it does "double damage" What is the hit % of thunder blast? 90% or 95%?? Im pretty sure its 90%,,, thats something to look at too when dealing with dodger's.

I was wrong, thunder blast descritption says double damage, But it does still hit 2 times, kinda like whack or Frenzied attack. I have both thunder blast and lightning on Rhor atm. With Thunder blast, you also have 2 chances to get a crit shot. I personally kept lightning for the hit %. So it is a weigh your options thing i think. What other skills do you have that maybe could replace?

I currently have Lightning, Lightning Strike, Electric Net and another Lightning on my Neo with equal MATK and ATK, so I have no magical vs non-magical preference.

Electric Net would probably be the first to go, though in that case I would be pretty saturated with Electric skills. Im definitely keeping Lightning Strike since eventually Id like to use it as my main Sealed Space clearer once I can one-shot the Spookies and Mystiks.

But if it is an inferior skill to Lightning damage wise, then Ill just skip over it.

I think with it hitting 2 times its more damage. If you have 2 Lightning's now I would replace 1 or the Net. Thunder blast is a Physical skill too. There is Thunderstorm, super thunderstorm, electrical storm out there as well to put on Neo too, not to mention maybe cunning. So as long as you have skills to improve upon, why not try it out?

Im a long way off from getting any Electric Advanced Book Chests so not going to worry about those other ones for a while. And since I have identical MATK and ATK so no need to get Electrical Storm.

I just put it over Electric Net. It always seemed like a defeatest skill. 70% chance to maybe cause the enemy to not attack next turn? The speed debuff would rarely help. Frankly any debuff reeks of planning for the enemy to kill you whereas buffs will last throughout the whole battle.

ok after actually testing this on Smacks in Sealed Space team Thunder Blast took one from 77 to 16, Lightning took one from 76 to 22.

So Thunder Blast beat out raw damage by about 8 damage. Accounting for variance they are very close, but Thunder Blast has a chance of multiple crits at the expense of 5% accuracy.

To add on: thunder blast has a decent chance to Paralyze your opponent since it has Double Damage. Either the first hit or last.

For me, this is no contest - Thunder Blast is better in almost all the areas (except for accuracy).
I don't want to reiterate what the others have said so just read those and you should see why Thunder Blast is better than Lightning, in my opinion.

I replaced lightning with thunder blast for the reasons listed above. Something to keep in mind about it though. It says double damage, but sometimes it only hits once. I have lost many battles now where the opponent only has a little life left and I use thunder blast and it hits once and doesn't kill them.

I had a fight against a Sally after he cast Rain Prayer and it repeatedly only hit once. Every other situation Ive been in it was hitting twice, and yes, much better than Lightning (also looks cooler).

Glad you like it, I had a pvp match where it only hit 1 time, I cant remember if rain prayer had been cast though. That was first time i had it do that too. It does look cool, but i like Rock sling better in the looks department lol
