Experts who don't know the basic rules make me laugh.

Re: Unfair Expert

It's been made clear in the past that experts and support are to "interpret the rules as they see fit" (I'd quote the actual post where Tracy said that, but I don't feel like digging).

Truth is, an expert may interpret a language they don't understand as an attempt at avoiding the filter (which IS against the rules), especially depending on the context of a specific wc conversation.

What you did was play with fire (the expert telling you not to do something) and you proceeded to get burned (and then you did exactly what you were told is not allowed).

I've played with taluwen as my expert and I've never had a problem, or seen much of anything to suggest anyone else has either.

Now, cuz I love to ramble, I think your situation exemplifies the real problem with experts, muku.

Ever since the first expert I ever saw (and s8 went months without a single one) it seems the real problem is that people(for whatever reason, valid or not) will hate on experts.

Not just hate on them, but test them, berate them, be generally ignorant to them, and just basically go out of their way to try and make themselves appear better than the poor unfortunate soul who is expert.

Heck, I used to pick on them myself.

But the truth is, they're a player like you.
They have the same goals in the game, and the same love for it.
Their personalities and tastes and preferences may be different than yours, but in the end, the multiple personas we interact with daily on haypi is what drives the game. Be they good people or bad. We need them both.

Try this....and this is totally not directed at you, muku (cuz youre cool), but those individuals who go out of their ways to rile experts on a daily or weekly basis( you know who you are as well as I do)... Try blocking the expert. You'll never have to see their name again or that blasted expert tag. You'll never hav to read their smelly wc posts ever again, and you may enjoy yourself. If that doesn't appeal to you, I think you are flirting with the fine line that is "being a troll."

Of course, for that to work, you'll need to conduct yourself with social couth in wc(or you'll be hit with a mute with no apparent warning! Lmfao)

Re: Unfair Expert

I like playing with fire. However, I also like it when rules aren't broken. HOWEVER HOWEVER(not everyone can be as eloquent as Taem  ), given that this game is a global game, I don't think that it's fair to say that WC has to be in English all the time. As common as it may be, not everyone speaks English. Experts are not just players, they're EXEMPLARY players. They have special responsibilities, and privileges, and in my opinion, if an expert is witnessing a conversation in another language, they should take the initiative to make sure it's not breaking the rules by tossing it through the mighty Google Translator. This isn't the most accurate of ways of doing things, but it's better(in my opinion) than just saying "Speak in English".

I don't know, perhaps I have a "in a perfect world" fantasy going on here. It's something that I would commit to doing, though, were I in such a situation.

NOTE: My opinion. Not the way it has to be because I say so. Just before you tear it apart because I'm "wrong".

Re: Unfair Expert

Ah ,where do i begin. Experts on Haypi do a fine job. I feel taluwen is a good expert , he takes a lot of abuse and continues login in daily to help the server and the world chat stay appropriate . MOST OF ALL he assists me in being expert. Any expert that has thick enough skin to continue login in is a rare thing indeed.i have had experience with experts that log in to collect then disappear from the earth leaving those to endure the constant berating and complaining about those who don't login and don't play enough.

Experts receive a letter saying to give warnings and a mute button. It's up to each expert to read rules and keep players following them. While warnings are a way to educate others on what is and isn't allowed. breaking a rule repeatedly isnt acceptable day after day week after week.offenders know what they did and seem to do it anyways. If its always cuss cuss cuss week in week out from the same player it's silly to allow them to break rules or swear an additional 2or 3 times . So for repeat offenders no warning is necessary . The rest of the chat room needs not be subjected to such behaviour.

Now for the fcuk or however it's spelled . That term was designed to reflect the swear word to appear edgy and avantgarde. Hence why it's a swear word spelled slightly different so people buying it know that.the whole point of avoiding is context. Saying a word that isn't a swear to pass filter but using it as a swear . I highly doubt you are being warned for discussing personal scent choices , but rather using it in place of cussing. Thereby breaking a rule . So get your sheet together(sheet by itself is acceptable yet the way I just used it was not )

So be nice to Taluwen . And nicer to me your friendly neighbourhood Ziggy

Re: Unfair Expert

Yes muku agreed that in the beginning talu was pretty strict and rigid on certain things. Almost seemingly unfair. Since then I've seen taluwen in action in both world chat and alliance chat and have found him to be more than fair. However this thread was started by problem children. Yes I use the word children as they continue to attempt to goad taluwen into action. They do not toe the line they play hopscotch on it and when they are warned or muted for their outrageous posts they hop on alts and continue to cause a ruckus. I'm no saint when it comes to being warned and muted but these children are constantly at it. Nitpicking and whining about every action or inaction taluwen might take regardless if he is currently present in world chat or not. I would say 70% of the days chat is them blathering on about how unfair talu is and how their alliance in consistently persecuted. Its ridiculous.
Talu is more than generous by giving the muted the benefit of the doubt once they've logged into an alt that they would behave yet more often then not they just continue to spew vitriol in wc.
And since when has an expert attacking another player with an army become abuse of power????

Well yes but Taluwen is the only one I've found to be worth defending after 2 years of playing this game. No offense against others but a majority of the time what's said about them is true.
