Secret of Tree Tactics

Hi Everyone,

I just thought I might make a basic guide for some tactics in passing some of the higher levels in Secret of Tree. Please add your own tactics for any levels I haven't added or even improve my tactics, they are by no means 100% effective. There are some level designs which I can never pass, so if anyone has strategies for levels I haven't added please post.

These are only the levels I saw today so I will add more as I see them if this post receives a positive response.

I use my Angelo and Lava, so all dragon shooting angles should be covered. Crystal and Rocco may have different tactics seeing as how they can freeze/stun opponents. Leshy should be reasonably similar but the piranha plant attack could open up some interesting strategies.

In this level slide down the hill where you will be safe from enemy fire. As the two right dragons shoot they should probably kill the one on the left. You should use your time while safe to build your rage. If you have Angelo you can time it right to power yourself up before your enemies break through and have extra strength. The two remaining dragons should be reasonably easy to take down.

Walk down into the gap. If any of your enemies are grenade throwers you should take them out first, ice throwers probably arent such a threat because their ice drop is blocked by the roof. Otherwise if you can handle a few hits target the middle dragon, try to knock them back a little, which should change their angle to hit the bottom enemy. The top dragon will normally hit the bottom one regardless. The bottom dragon will normally hit you and cause some damage to the ground you are standing on (watch out you dont fall). Take out what remains of the bottom dragon, which should probably only require one attack. Finally kill the top. Often the ground behind some dragons will be destroyed, feel free to knock them off the ledge.

This level is easy with Angelo. Walk over and take out the bottom dragon (not pictured), once he is out heal yourself. Shoot up and take out the bigger threat of the two remaining. As they shoot down at you they weaken their platform and will eventually fall. It is best if they are the ones to make themselve fall as you will get first shot at them on your next turn (if a piranha plant thrower is up there somewhere just leave them til last as they are unlikely to break through platforms any time soon). As each enemy falls take them out. Use any spare time to heal or build rage. This tactic can work with Lava too but requires patience, particularly if a piranha is up top.

This level is normally easy. If there is a grenade thrower, stay where you are. They will hit you with their grenade for 50 odd damage and then it will fall back at them or if you are lucky explode on one of your opponents. If there are no grenade throwers, fly to the left and land down in the gap just above the skull decoration. You are then usually pretty safe from the two dragons in the depressions. The left dragon will hit you once and you should knock them back into the middle hump (where the grenade thrower is in this pic). The other two dragons may shoot the left dragon down to where you are and you should attempt to kill it as soon as possible. When using Angelo a bomb will normally do the trick (they have already lost some damage when they were knocked down by one of the other guys)

Walk up to where I am and hit the left dragon with however much power you have left. The two right hand dragons should then hit the left one. Take him out if necessary. At this stage you should still have some protection. If you are happy with it take out the top dragon. If you do not have much cover left you can shoot out the bottom wooden plank which will cause both of the remaining dragons to fall and provide you plenty of time to kill them before they make it through your wall. Obviously when using Lava, with a lower angle you need to stand further out in order to hit your opponents. This leaves you a little more open but you should still be safe enough to win.

Again, this level is usually pretty easy. Leave the dragon at the top. I usually aim at the right hand dragon first but the bottom one is fine if the wind dictates it (do not hit the wood wall protecting you). If using Lava and you have a headwind lob a bomb (behind eggy in this pic) and it will roll back and explode, knocking him down onto the wood. Next take out the wood, this picture isnt what would normally happen but take out the wood knocking whatever other dragons onto the ground, where you should be safe from their attack. Take them out at will, once the wood wall has been destroyed, move your angle to get blocked by the floating ground, which will protect you until your enemies are destroyed. If you have bad aim and are using Lava, bombs are great. If the top dragon hasn't yet hit through his block, knock him down yourself and take him out.

This level is simple with Lava if you can take a few hits. Step 1 - knock the top dragon off the ledge. Take 2 hits. Step 2, shoot a bomb above the second dragon, which will roll down and explode, pushing him off the edge (usually, otherwise he will get stuck with the one below). Take one or two more hits and knock them off the edge using the same bomb tactic. If not using Lava step one per above. Then you will need some accuracy and fly yourself onto the ice block you see in the above picture. the dragons remaining will hit the ball, which will probably roll down onto the middle dragon. While he is busy working his way through the ball, throw a well placed shot to knock the bottom guy off the edge. Once the middle dragon gets through the ball do the same to him.

Image

Step 1 - fly yourself down under the lowest dragon. The two above will shoot him. Sometimes he will be knocked down, in which case you will take a hit from him. Next, walk below the middle dragon but keep the angle so he gets hit by the one above while staying out of his firing line. He might also fall in which case you will take another hit. Walk below the final one and wait for him to knock himself down (build rage or heal while waiting).

There is also the skipping method. I will eventually put up how much vines it takes to skip a lvl.
