Starving troops question

Quick question guys.

Asking here because i've seen different answers in different guides so want a definitive answer.

When you are getting cropped, usually while you are asleep and unable to do anything about it which hunts are called back first?

For example say you have 1000 cats and 14000inf in your city that gets cropped. You hunt them in 2 parties with the cats and inf seperate. Your city can feed the cats but not the inf. I would assume the inf will go back to city and die while the cats stay hunting as the city can sustain them from croplands only. Is this correct?

Re: Starving troops question

It's possible to have a large army and not keep crop oases. I can afford a 75k army with no crop deficit and no crop oases with only 5 cities. Therefore, it's impossible for me to starve. I could triple that army size and only have to feed once every 13-14 hours, but I'd have around 2-3 hours if someone tried to break my cranny (unlikely if they don't find my crop oases, which don't exist).

Keys of keeping them alive lie in how you manage them, and what types of troops you've built.
One of the best ways I know to avoid being cropped (besides not using oases) is to treat others as you would be treated. You might be surprised how well this works.

On the contrary, promote yourself as ruthless and prove it on the battlefield and the thought to crop you won't even cross most peoples minds.

this does actually work, even when i find a hit in an oasis i make sure i have my full compliment of oasis even if they are just level 1 wood oasis just to make sure i don't steal there oasis which is usually a crop one... however the flip side of this is that sometimes when involved in a war i have found some people have no common courtesy for this. depending on how well you can show your ability to keep your own oasis and not steal others will result in this being successful or not. this method i emplpyed on s106 and worked well

just gonna say i did this on s23 and it worked as well
