Nathan brought up the solution to making the forums active again.
Post quality, yeah sure. Thread quality, defiantly.
You want to help the forums? Don't bother with sending out letters. Most people will not usually become active from checking the forums once.
Instead make threads were users can discuss something. Once people start posting threads were the discussion can be large, users will then start discussing, arguing etc., and then forum regulars will start being born automatically.
In fact, this thread is a good example. Not the best, but still an example. A topic was given, and a discussion started, then an argument. These are the threads that make you check every 30 minutes to see if someone replied and the conversation can continue, end, be locked by mods because it went to far/people started breaking rules, blah blah blah.
Get my point? Posters are needed yes, so sending letters to the masses might get some new people on board, but good threads are needed before that to catch the people who are ready to post.
