Yesterday I found myself with a specific hankering for a ham and pepperjack sandwich. So I walked on over to the supermarket, and approached the deli counter...not a single person in line.
I tried to grab the attention of one of the 3 old ladies working behind the counter. No such luck. "why are they ignoring me?", I wondered.
Some lady walked up. She reaches up, and is passed a healthy package of Cooper sharp. "Uhhh....here I am...", blast ignored again!
Another woman walks up, followed by a man. They too are handed various charcuteries and cheeses. "what is the deal?", I wonder, "why are they ignoring me?"
After about 4 more people pass me by, I see a woman do something as strange as it is efficient. She grabs a number out of this little ticket dispenser and it hits me...they have a queue for customers, that way they can do a lil shopping while they wait for their meat to be sliced (too thickly, I might add).
Well I do the only logical thing in this situation, and rather than make a scene, I take a number.
"dang! I'm like 12th on the list!", I resign myself to the fate of there being a baseball game this morning with Boston being in town. It's gonna be a while.
As I wait for my order to be taken, I contemplate haypi, and how they must have such a huge queue for their support team...you know, considering how many people experience problems with the game they've created, and then proceed to bombard haypi with email, and ingame letters and pm's.
It makes me sooo mad that haypi would attend to someone elses problems before mine, which are, quite naturally, the most important, just as these deli workers are blatantly ignoring the fact that I AM HUNGRY and want my meat now! I mean seriously, where do they get off?
Of course this is an extremely selfish and unrealistic approach to the situation, but who cares, isn't it apparent to everyone that people should just drop whatever it is they're doing to accommodate me?
