Cats or arch??

I've built myself a good cavalry army and it's pretty strong and good to hit over long distance but they aren't the best for getting pp. I've heard arch are stronger in large numbers. But how big?? Cats are great they're just a little slow. I don't frequently warp so arch seems my better bet. But I've heard people say you need 10 arch per cat! So if you could share some tips how to command and where to put my points into(I thought defense for arch,but I may be wrong) that would be great :)

Archer/Cavalry armies seem to be popular because of their versatality and their high speed...

because mono cavalry armies are easily blocked and always take high losses it's recommended to use a ranged unit with them ...
I've personally never used archer/cav though so I wouldn't know :/ there are some guides on it ... just let me look for them

Where you're mistaken is saying that archers are MORE powerful in high numbers. The truth is, archers are COMPARITIVELY powerful in high numbers. their true usefulness lies in their speed, not only (as you said) for traveling toba target quickly, but because they can hit enemy cats first, something that most cats can't do.

So what you are gaining in speed, you are making small sacrifices in crop consumption and attack strength.

Hope this helps, and I will advocate archer/cav armies, so long as you don't completely neglect your other troops, and so long as you realize how to use the units efficiently (how to allocate attribute points, command, etc).

Thanks taem. I heard arch hit cats first. So for example if cats wait, archers move forward will archers still hit first? Say on a 1350 field with my speed being approximately 170 attribute points and max tech. And if I'm running a cav/arch army do I want my points in defense(due to their low defense) or should I go attack using the caves to take all the hits.

Well any general sporting lv10 marching will have archers that strike before cats NO MATTER WHAT, so long as the archer is within range, of course. On a field the size you said, there will be turrets that you must contend with as well, they far outrange both archers and cats (except for designed instances).

The classic approach to your army is defense. The buttonmasher approach is attack. My personal favorite is fortune, at the moment. In truth, a threshold can be found in the allocation of your points + equipment that gives you the edge vs. Any unit type, depending on the type.

The other thing about cav, is they are an advanced unit. Perhaps it's best if they were used earlier on if you have a considerably lower level than your opponent, because you will minimize pres loss from units killed in your army, but due to the losses they take, you need to have attained level upgrading as well as tech and equipment to use this army effectively.

Therefore, I don't suggest a build like this for a low level player.
