Whining about oases

I have been playing this game for about two weeks now. Twice I have found some nice-sized oases near my home city that happened to be "owned" by another player, but without any troops. I sent in a small army and took them away.

Both times I immediately get messages from the owning player that I wasn't playing by the "rules" and calling me a coward. Meanwhile, their troops are nowhere to be seen, because they are often hunting where they can't get hurt.

So, am I completely out of line, or do I just have whiners in my neighborhood. If the "rules" are to not attack un-garrisoned oases and forts, and no one garrisons their cities either, then I fail to see the point of playing any more.

these players see it as against the rules but just go ahead and keep doing it, the constant battles you will be having will prepare you better for future larger battles. stick around its well worth it

Re: Whining about oases

Ok, first off, hunting your troops is smart. And if you don't learn how to do it you will be wiped multiple times ;)

Secondly, most players do not like their oasis/forts being taken, and chances are if you keep it up you will not have an army anymore, not have any oasis or forts, and you will be left with just your main city... Of course, it's totally up to you, some people enjoy making enemies :D

Re: Whining about oases

Well, of course, I wouldn't expect anyone to like having their oases taken away, but instead of taking an army to claim them back, I get complaint mail instead.

I have just found that within a fairly large range of my home base, there are never any occupied forts, towns, or oases, (except for the ones not claimed by any player). So, what am I supposed to do with this army I am building? At least if I take away their oases, they might have to bring their armies back from hunting all the time and I'll have a chance to attack them and get some prestige.

Re: Whining about oases

you will make enemies taking other peoples oases but you will get attacked alot which is good for prestige gain, basically its a choice between being popular and potentially getting some prestige

Re: Whining about oases

It def makes people mad. Especially if you take crop oasis'. That could starve people troops and kill some of them. That makes peep very mad. Enemies are not always a bad thing. Some of them you can take out when they send their army at you, thus getting easy prestige.
I personally don't take others oasis' unless I have had problems with him or am at war with the alliance he/she is in.
You can keep doing it and it's NOT against the rules. Just be careful cuz you may get enemies that are way to strong for you!

My simple advice is, before you take one, search the user to make sure they're not to high of a level and you can ave a chance fighting hem if they attack you, you'll get prestige instead of easily being wiped over and over

Re: Whining about oases

as far as i know (correct me if im wrong) there is no rule against taking over an oasis that is owned by someone else. if they have their oases stolen, that is their fault for not protecting it enough to defend from attacks

havent you read chat rule 14- no taking oases it is illegal and will cause whinging.

lol taking oases is part of the game. PVP is a classic example people are fine taking others oases there so why not do the same on the normal servers
