Large armies/scout techniques

I've been getting a lot of questions about how people maintain large armies and how do people find hits so quickly. I'll answer these here. :)

I'll start with scouting techniques.

-Everyone has seen on their screen where someone gets xxxx money from hunt, right? Scout those, scout their area, owned oasis's (ESPECIALLY CROPS), forts, and all cities of the person that returned hunt and all of that persons neighbors. Then write down any information that you find, such as how many oasis's, troops you saw out, stats, and if they're close by and have high resources, mark them as farms. You can either starve them when you suspect they aren't on or attack if they have troops out. I've attacked a lot of people that recall hunts and then go offline (probably someone elses feed alt, but better for me :D )
-Look at the top of this forum where it says something to the effect of:

Total war count: XXXXXXXXXXXX
[serverXXX] XXXXXXXXXXXXXis attacking XXXXXXXXXXX

If you have a computer and device that can play haypi kingdom, you can do this(or have someone in your alliance do it). First, on a computer, highlight the bar that says [serverXXX] XXXXXXXXXXXis attacking XXXXXXXXX. Then, right click and put the clicker over the word copy. When you see the XXX in [serverXXX] display your server number, click copy. Now when I do this it automatically displays in my google bar, but if yours doesn't do that, paste it where the http:// is. From there, either write it down, go scout that name/crops/forts/neighbors, or post it in Alliance Chat for someone that is online to scout and tell details. From doing this, you will find farms, troops that you can starve, and potentially troops you can hit if they leave troops out after attacking. It happens a lot. As I type this post, I posted around 70 names in my Alliance Chat. We had 3 people scouting while I was doing this and another scouting hunts. Save likely targets to favorites and scout when you're bored. There's always someone that forgets to put up troops after attacking or will leave their army in an oasis because they don't want their hunts scouted. Keeping their name under the radar. :)

-Have your alliance members that are on start at some place in the map and scout in a direction, scouting all cities, owned forts, and owned oasis's. Remember, your mail has a limit, it's 32. In case you get mail, only scout about 30 times minus any saved mail and mail that doesn't get pushed down, like pvp notices. Anyone that looks like they might be a good target, save or attack. You can scout from say 0,0 to 0,600. Then, when you get to 0,600, scroll to center the map on 9,600 and scroll up to 9,0. Remember where you left off at when you check mail too. :)

-If you don't use coins to drop, don't use hidden, don't post for alliance people, or don't use a cav army, then your ways of getting prestige are limited to baiting and close surroundings for the most part because your attacks will be slow. If you're baiting leave out about a third of your army and check actions frequently for hidden attacks.

-Go to the rankings. Write down people's names or pick an alliance and write their names down from rankings. Start from where you think you can take people. Then scout their members and their surroundings. Help from alliance people will definately help after you send out the list to them. Start from different points though. You could have each member scout 1-10 members and their surroundings. Just because you may not be willing to attack something, doesn't mean that a member in your alliance isn't close to it or won't use coins to city drop them. (moving your city with coins as close to the target as possible for a quick hit, hoping they won't have time to put troop on hunt)

-You don't necessarily need a large army to do a lot of damage. I've seen large alliance camps where they think it's a great idea to bunch up together. You can keep a cav army of around 15k in your main, move up to their camped alliance, and then start farming them ALL!!! IF you do this and need oasis's, get them from far away and don't keep really good subs... or just keep taking theirs and let your alliance friends take it from you. The one that's willing to spend coins to move the city should end up with the city. lolololololol :twisted: .

-Taking decent level crop oasis's from players with a decent army and sending a significant force of infantry or cavalry to a person's cities is always an effective way to force troops out. If you hit a person 5 times, you have to wait a full day to attack again unless you attack 5 times right before the day ends and again right after. Recalled attacks count towards your 5 while oasis attacks do not. You can have a few people that are holding the maximum amount of crops for their level repeatedly attack a persons oasis if you don't want the person to know who stole their city, if you want to do that after a starve/prestige hit.

Now on to keeping large armies:

-Some people keep obnoxiously large armies by having friends feed their troops, you aren't supposed to do that, but possibly having the members of your alliance that have really small armies supply you with crops by selling lower than what is currently on the market can help.

-Crop enhance gives all croplands and crop oasis's 50% extra production. Planting Lv 10 gives all croplands and crop oasis's 100% extra production. This means that all croplands and crop oasis's get 3 times their normal production if you have crop enhance on the city that takes the oasis and lv 10 planting. So someone with 4 LV 15 croplands will get +15,360 crop production for that city and a person with 4 lv 20 croplands will get 32,340. 2,695*4=10,780. 10,780*3=32,340. This also means that each Lv 9 oasis will give a person 11,100 (3,700*3=11,100)

-Keep in mind the total production of crops from croplands, enhance, and lv 10 planting. If you don't sleep more than 8 hours, then you could easily hold 90-100k worth of troops in each city. So for a lv 20, that'd be around 700k with about 8 hours of sleep. Example:
-100k crops in each city. Subtract 32,340 if you have 4 lv 20 croplands in each city(most people won't do this because subs are so easily stolen). So for a lv 20, that would be 7*32,340=226,380 or for an easier grasp of the equation, 100k-32,340=67,660 in each city. That's already 449300/67,660=6.64 hours of crops. Now, a lv 20 can hold 10 crop oasis's. 11,100*10=111,000. You can put one in each city and one in 3 others, putting 4 cities with -56,560 crops (7.94 hours of sleep) and 3 cities with -45,460 crops (9.88 hours of sleep) That's like a 60k cat army with 100k infantry or some other combination. I've seen people set an alarm for every 4 hours to feed crops. I've heard of people with a -150k army in each city, which is just shy of 3 hour intervals and considering the player has enough farms, coins, or money to keep getting crops.

-chart inactives withing 5+ minutes in every direction. Keep some kind of track of which ones you have hit recently so that you get more than 50k resources.

-keep several thousand infantry (or cav if you're running a cav army) so that you can effectively farm and get good money from hunts for instances where you run out of farms and your forts are farmed (or you're on one of the new merged servers with very few forts and you run out of inactives to farm). There are TONS of inactives on each server as well as a lot of people that leave armies out each night because they forget to put them on hunt.

-Normally crop oasis's go down a level for each day you own them, but if you resign the oasis and retake it before that 24 hour period ends, the oasis doesn't go down a level for another day after you resign it. Forts reset traps and turrets when resigned and oasis's reset their level degrading timer when you resign them.

-Both oasis's and forts belong to the city that took them and when you resign troops from oasis's and forts, the troops return to the city that took it instead of the city you sent from. Using this, you can own 2-3 areas by setting up a triangle of forts that a city 2 hours away owns and doing this two ways. So main city has a fort next to it that belongs to a sub and the sub has a fort next to it that belongs to your main. We all know that when you recall, the transfer of troops is instant ;) Each player can hold a number of oasis's equal to their level divided by 2. Each player can hold a number of sub cities and forts equal to their title name (not level/rank). So civilians can't hold any forts/sub cities, but a duke can hold 5 forts/sub cities for a total of 6 cities. If that was as clear as mud, then you can hold an additional fort/sub city at levels 4,7,10,13,16, and 19 where your first of each is at level 4.

Another method of scouting which i have found extremely effective is randomly hopping to an area on the map. (Perhaps near an enemy) and scout every main and sub within 2 levels of you. Scout 20-30 at a time and open them all up in your letters. If you open an empty on delete it. If the scout contains troops then dont delete it. After scouting a large group and deleting the unhelpful scouts you should have a list of scouts in your letter boc that contained troops. Then just go through those and determine which would be the best hit. (Sometimes i even rescout them again to see the crop output or if troops still remain out or have changed in number, to indicate activity.
