Placement of traps/turrets

Okay, this is dealing with max level turrets and traps. I have heard comments from both sides.

Is it best to simply create a field of 15 lvl 10 turrets, or is there a benefit to placing a trap here and there. Assume you are going to be attacked by high level players, with large armies, so we are not talking about deterring mid level players.

I would think a row of turrets delays troops the same as traps would, but have been told that may not always be the case. Further, I was attacking not long ago a city that had one trap placed in each row, and I held longer than I expected. One row took 2 rounds for me to get through, despite having more than enough cav to get the job done on one turn.

So in the end, I guess what I am asking is (a) if it is better to place some traps on the field with the turrets, and (b) if so, how would you lay everything out.

Any advice on the topic is appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Placement of traps/turrets

base on my experience to this matter,

placement of traps and turrets wont matter.. Your speed matters when u attack traps, the faster ur speed, the faster u destroy traps (get there). about turrets, speed and shooting lvl matters.

high lvl defence, not matter where u put it, it will surely delay high lvl enemies, especially when u put some troops to defend also..

my point is: placement dont matter...

I've heard it's best to have 1 trap per row, that way someone with a ton of cavs can't double-power attack their way through two rows of turrets at once.

Traps and turrets slows down the opponent the same way.

Traps are much more effective at lower tech level while turrets are deadly at level 9+

I would suggest going all traps for your defense unless you are able to research your turret tech to level 9+

not really, i experienced it before, placing 1 trap per row do have stalling effect. especially when dealing with cav cats or cav arch combo army. they can typically clear 2 row of turrets in 1 turn. but if a trap is there, it slow down the cav especially to buy turn for your cats.

Re: Placement of traps/turrets

Lvl 10 turrets in total can take out 3825/1140/4590/1275 per round all together. Lvl 10 traps all together can take out 1800/540/2160/600. Although lvl 10 turrets seem to take out way more some players with max speed and defense just send their cav forward, resulting in only approximately 1750 cav loss. Idk about traps but for sure turrets are superior except in pvp

Re: Placement of traps/turrets

traps lack of firepower is replaced with their ability to stall and not destroyed by ranged units. a mixture of both will give u sufficient firepower and enough stalling power with the set up i mentioned above.
