so i havent spent much time trying to figure this out, cuz im generally not in the business of starving troops, but does anyone know the rate at which troops starve?
when starving, i see troops die off at huge numbers every 15 minutes or so, until there is no crop defecit...but not all at once like id expect.

I don't understand the mechanics of this at all, either.

It seems when you are in possession of but a few armed buddies, they will instantly die off and leave you with zero, or a tiny positive (+2 or 3) crop production.

With very large numbers, the following seems to happen.

1) At some point, "crop is not enough!"
2) You log in after this point.
3) The lost city troops message seems to arrive *at* login time.
4) You're still deeply negative consumption.

From an external point of view, I have noticed this:
1) Players troops starve and return home.
2) A certain amount remain
3) They remain unchanged, for "a while" (untested)
4) Any action seems to cause them to starve further - i.e. when you attack and the battle starts they're down by about a third.

Edit: actually, to be clear, how the system decides WHICH troops will starve should be part of a complete answer to this question...

It's every 15 minutes you lose a certain percentage of troops when you're at 0 crops, up until you're either at 0 or positive crop output, pretty much.
