I, as well as many, went speed+fortune while using catapults. The result was extremely good. I was getting upwards of 3-7 double attacks per battle, depending on the length of the battle. I can give you an estimated figure for a double attack and a strong attack really quick. I like math, lol.
Don't forget that 80 points in attack is assisted by your 20 increase from the attack tech, your 30 points from your sword, and 15 points from the manual. Catapults have 300 attack naturally. Using the same 80 points:
300*(1+((.20+.30+.15+.80)/2)) which is 300*(1+(1.45/2)) which is
300*(1+.725) which is 300*1.725=
517.5 damage per cat.
As for fortune attacks, you need to realize that you still get any bonus from equips, techs, and your minimum 10% addition from having a 20 attack naturally and that double from just 300 by itself is 600.
300*(1+((.20+.30+.15+.20)/2)) which is 300*(1+(.85/2)) which is
300*(1+.425) which is 300*1.425= 427.5
Take 427.5 and double it= 855 per double attack and 427.5 damage per missed double attack. This is assumming that a double attack is exactly double.
Now... using catapults alone against lv 10 turrets is not the best idea. You should use a fodder. Like infantry after the first move forward with cats (means you'll still lose some cats) or use a side army of cavalry and archers (archers can help lighten the losses, as will healing. Cats and cav to hit turrets won't work right bc the cav are fast enough to make the cats never hit). You will lose less prestige from the people you attack. Cavalry are worth less than catapults and have much higher defense, speed, and health and if you follow them with enough archers to clear a full row of turrets, you'll find you take even less damage.
