Chat crash fix while we wait for haypi update

The OS 4.01 doesn't have the issue with the chat. I figured out how to downgrade to that version.

1. Google "4.01 IPSW iOS iPhone (whatever version you have) to find a link to the firmware
2. Download the ipsw file for the OS firnware from apple to your computer.
3. Hook iPhone to computer and do a restore. If u have a pc, hit the shift key while you click in the restore button on iTunes. If you have a mac, I think u click on the alt:tab key.  It will allow you to select the firmware you downloaded from a pop up window.
4. Continue with restore. Have a drink/snack as it takes a while.

THIS DOES NOT JAILBREAK YOUR PHONE. In a nutshell, your doing the same as reformatting you PC to install a previous version of windows.

Supplied by a Server 5 player. I've yet to try this but will be shortly. But it does seemlikee it will rectify the issue until Haypi have made available the new updates .

Re: Chat crash fix while we wait for haypi update

This would work, as it is a bug with Haypi and iOS4.1 - but consider that you are also removing all the features of 4.1, including security fixes.

The best thing to do first is to check your iTunes "mobile applications" folder - as it will likely contain more than one version of the Haypi app.

-Copy an old one out, and save it somewhere else.
-Delete Haypi from iTunes and sync the iPhone / iTouch
-Double click the old haypi app to install it into itunes.
-Sync it to iPhone/touch

Viola! You have the old version (probably 2.01?) which will not have this particular crash bug.

It WILL however have the bug which means you need to exit it from multitasking each time you exit in order to get back into chat, but this one is less frustrating than the reinstall process.

I unfortunately don't have an old ipa file hanging around ... so I can't do this, but it works on other apps that need a downgrade. :)

Unfortunately the restoring to an old version of haypi doesn't fix it. Ive tried it. Was the first thing I thought. The issue is with the security of the ISO4.1 and pm messages on haypi downgrading the Apple upgrade until we get a fix in the game is the only way . End of Line

I've already attempted this downgrade iOS method and had no success.

Unless something has changed in the past week or so, I believe downgrading using this method is no longer possible. When you restore your device, you have to communicate with the Apple servers to validate the restore software and Apple now signs all their iOS files so that only the most recent one can be successfully restored to your device...as far as I can tell.

Yes. Why it doesn't work (for a 3gs anyway) is because, since Apple started signing their restore files, Apple requires iTunes to contact the Apple servers to get permission to restore. And about a day or so after they release a new firmware, they stop signing the older versions. Thus you cannot downgrade.

Ok I found this link as well that gives a guide how to do it , but I can see what ur saying makes sense as apple are really into there security as they should be . I'm going to give it a crack anyway when I'm fully awake.

Note that the site says if you don't have your SHSH files saved to Cydia that you can't downgrade. That's because that method bypasses talking to Apple servers and instead redirects you to Cydia servers for firmware signing validation.

the key here folks, or the lesson learned is this: let someone else be the test dummy to "upgrade" to the new software. wait a while, and check to see if anyone has complained of problems. if after a month or so, they aren't complaining of anything, then it is likely safe to "upgrade". keep this in mind for later updates.

That's exactly what I do. Can't trust for these updates to be stable from prior experience.
