What you need to do is make it not worth it to other players. You are low level, so that helps. Once you are over level 10 or so, it doesn't really make sense to raid low level players, forts are much better.
Upgrade your cranny! If they aren't getting any resources, they will move on to a juicier target.
Build traps! If attackers start losing troops, and not getting any resources, they are sure to look elsewhere for easy targets.
Do not keep troops in your cities. If you do, that is just easy prestige, and even a higher level player won't have any problem going into a level 4 player's city just to wipe out a few cats or inf. Hunt your troops anytime you are not actively playing.
Join the best alliance you can. I frequently pass up targets if I know they are in a high ranked active alliance. A crappy alliance may deter some, but if I don't recognize the name, I will look it up. If it isn't in the top 50 on my server, I won't even blink before I attack.
Don't stockpile excess resources. Before you log off, use up all your resources to upgrade buildings, traps, or build troops. If there is nothing to steal, there is no reason to attack.
You don't have to make yourself invincible, you just have to make it not worth it to attack yourself. Levels 5-10 are probably when you will be most vulnerable. You are high enough that you may have something in there worth raiding, but unlikely to have an army that will be of any trouble to the attacker.
