Haypi Comp entry

The Lone Nomad

One day there  was a lone nomad wandering the lands of Haypi on his horse. He was quite tall with a head of thick brown hair. His eyes were green. His horse was a beautiful jet black arabian called Passion. He had been traveling for 5 years now, so the only posessions he had were his horse and his clothes.

He had been traveling through the woods for quite a while, when he came to a clearing at the top of the hill. As he looked out across the rolling hills of Haypi, he noticed a city in the distance. He decided to go down to see if he could sleep there for the night.

When he got to the city,  it was  much larger than he first thought. It would have been a magnificent city in it's time but it had fallen. It was now just a  enough people for a small village.  The sun was starting to set so he decided to find someone to ask about staying the night at the village.

He was walking around the city when a tiny toddler came running towards him. A young girl hurriedly snatched the child up mumbling sorry. Before the girl could turn away the nomad said 'Hello. I'm Christophe. I was just wondering if I could stay the night here.' When the girl looked up at him he was stunned. The girl had bright blue eyes, rich like the blue of the sky or the water and dark brown corkscrew curls. 'You can stay in my home only if I can tell you a story.' She said in a soft melodic voice. Christophe agreed and followed the girl back to her house.

We they had both settled down in the living room of the cosy little  house, the girl started her story.

'This city was once the most feared city in Haypi, it was ruled by a cruel, evil man called Mattews. Mattews had destroyed every city in Haypi, making them cower in fear.  He treated his people like scum, forcing them into his army. If they didn't go they were beaten or tortured. Every new city in Haypi was attacked. Mattews only cared about himself, never about the welfare of his people. Many people tried to leave the city but were caught and locked away.

One day a short man came to the city gates offering goods. He said to call him Carlos. Carlos claimed to be a healer. He was taken in eagerly because the current healer was having trouble with all the war casualties and people who were sick.

About a month after Carlos had arrived at the city, everyone in the city could overhear Mattews talking to his  Army General about attacking the newly founded village nearby. It was nothing new so most people continued to do their daily work. Carlos was seen walking angrily towards his house muttering under his breath.

Later that day, everyone was drawn to the city center by a huge commotion. Everyone was gathered around Mattews and Carlos. Carlos was slowly advancing towards Mattews looking very angry. 'You don't have to destroy people! You can just be friends! Why destroy a new village? How do you think your people feel, watching you send out your army to destroy someone else? You have already destroyed enough cities, you don't need to destroy another!'Carlos cried out at Mattews.
'GET OUT OF MY CITY RIGHT NOW! YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO ACCUSE ME OF THINGS LIKE THAT! GUARDS?! Escort this stupid man out of my city. Do whatever it takes.' Mattews shouted back. Carlos walked up to Mattews sneering face, punched him in the nose, turned on his heel and walked out of the city.  The people of the city clapped and cheered Carlos' name but he never looked back. The next morning Mattews was found dead in his room. His daughter, Lana had disappeared leaving only a note saying sorry. Mattews son, Simon, took over the city. Troops were sent out all over Haypi searching for Carlos and Lana but they were never found.

A year later, while a guard was checking the city walls, he found a tiny bundle of cloth. When he looked inside he saw a tiny baby girl looking up at him with wide eyes.  He took the baby to the healer, Tasha. When Tasha unwrapped the tiny girl, she found a note. It said,
'Please take care of Maryiah as if she was your own. Give her an education. It is too hard for us to keep her. We will visit soon.
Lana & Carlos'
Tasha gasped. 'She's Lana's! This is Lana and Carlos' baby!'  She took Maryiah to Simon who called the city together.
'Lana and Carlos are alive! This is their child!' He said, holding up Maryiah. The crown  cheered. 'Maryiah will he worshipped. When she is old enough she will run this city!' He called out across the city.

Mariah was brought up by a loving Tasha, living a fun filled, happy life until the city was attacked. The city was destoyed, people killed in masses,  nothing was spared. Only a few survived, one of who was Maryiah. Maryiah had just turned 15 and was due to be crowned leader of the city later that day.

Since that fateful afternoon, only a few came back. The city was empty, abandoned. It stayed like that for about 5 years, until a nomad stumbled upon it, needing a place to sleep. Maryiah stayed there the whole time, caring for her son and growing only what she needed.'

The girl stopped talking and sat back in her chair, looking at Christophe.
'You are Maryiah aren't you?' Christophe asked quietly.
'Yes.' She replied. 'I am Maryiah, Carlos and Lana's daughter.'
Just as she said that there was a knock at the door. Maryiah's son ran towards it. When Maryiah opened the door, it revealed a middle aged couple. A girl with blonde corkscrew curls and a man with thick black hair. They both had beautiful blue eyes.
'Hi. Eh... Who are you?' Maryiah asked them politely.
The woman replied, 'I am Lana, and this is Carlos. I think you are our daughter, Maryiah.'
