The Blood For Haypi (Competition Entry)

The Blood For Haypi
By GhostCcamm

Haypi was the kingdom of peace and joy. Where the swallows flew through the lush green woods and there was no blood being spilt on the vast land. I am living under the rule of King Ccamm in the main city of his great nation. I had a wife and three children, we lived peacefully in our house which was decorated by green ivy. We have grown a strong bound to the house for it's beauty and strength. However, that had all changed when a terrible event which had began like this....

It began on a dark an eery night, the wind blew an eery tension with it's power as I was called to the army barracks of the town. I walked there slowly with my heart beating faster than the speed of sound, it felt like it was going explode. As I stumbled closer to the army barracks, the houses around me turned into dark sinister monsters begging for my blood. Their shadows crept forth to me, I felt frightened, I can't take this any more. Then it all stopped by the sudden bang of a door closing from one of the houses. A dark figure emerged into the centre of the road. The mysterious dark figure turned around and recognized my pale, horrified face in the dim moonlight.
"Eric," said the vast black figure in a low manly voice, "Is that you?"
I was quiet surprised how this person recognized my haunted face at such a time. Probably my face was so white it was like a bright ghost. As I crept forth to him the tiny light from the moon started to give away his face. The man had short black hair, and had big thick eyebrows. He had dark brown eyes and dark skin. He had a strong build for and he wore a dirty rag shirt. I recognized who he was, he works with me at the stone mine collecting resources. I broke the silence with my fearful voice,
"Yeah it's me Toodoh, why you up at such a time at night?"
"Well..." he begun, "I have been summoned to the army barracks to be recruited as a soldier."
I was shocked to know that more people are being recruited too. This must of meant either we are going to be attacked or a going to attack someone.
"So why you out at this hour Eric?" he questioned me in his deep voice.
"Saaamm... Same... Same reason," I stammered to answer his question.
I could tell from the sudden expression on his face that he was shocked to know that something big was going down. We stood there in silence as the spooky, eery breeze blew and wailed in the darkness of the night.
"Eric mah man, we should be headin' off quickly," said Toodoh breaking the deafening silence.
I nodded with a shakey nod in agreement, and we both stumbled into the night.

I was shocked by the amount of people lined up infront of the army barracks. Hundreds and thousands of people stood there waiting for their turn to be allowed to enter the building. Toodoh and I stood there waiting for hours as we drew weary. At last I was called infront of the general (the king in other words) himself in the army barracks. Normally, I have heard from other friends who had joined the army they just signed their name down, seeing the general here is quiet a surprise. He wore a bright golden crown with jewels embedded in it which glistened and gleamed in the candle light. He looked quiet young, around about 22 years old. He had long dark spickey hair and had clear blue eyes. He was wearing a dark red coat and in his hand was a scepter. As I came infront of him I bowed to him and stood attention to.
"Thank you," the king began in his calm voice, "The reason why I called you here is because we are in a serious time of crisis."
I was surprised by his words. The vast, beautiful kingdom which he ruled is in a depressing crisis. The king continued on with what he was saying,
"We are under attack by another great nation to the east. They have conquered countless empires and ours are next. So instead, we shall fight back. You shall become a member of the cavalary unit, do you accept my offer?"
"Yes your majesty," I answered to his offer.
"Then I shall..." he said as he got up to his feet, "Bow to you for your respect to the nation."
He bowed with ease and grace as I stood there, shocked, surprised and confused what he was doing. Then I understood it's a way of building morale in the soldiers.
"Now go and you shall be all padded and armoured up for this grand battle which awaits you," he said as he dismissed me from the room. I bowed once more left the room without a word.

It's day time and I am on the beautiful white horse which I shall be fighting with. It's fur glistened in the sunlight. I am prepared with armour, a sheild with the emblem of Haypi on it, and my sword which was crafted by the finest blacksmith of the nation. Toodoh was helping with the vast catapults when the time came to attack, he and his companioins would set hell loose. I looked forth on the horizon as the sun beated down upon it. Up ahead an enormous dust cloud was heading our way. I knew my time has come to fight. I pulled down my visor, prepared to fight. I heard the thumping of the hooves on the dry grass. They were charging nearer and nearer. I gritted my teeth, the moment of life or death. I then shouted with my loudest and ferocious voice,
"FOR HAYPI!!"
We all screamed with our loudest war cry as possible. The cavalary all charged forth to kill as quickly as possible with the infantry and archers not that far behind. From behind the catapults started to rain rocks upon the enemy, tearing apart there infantry unit. I saw soldier on the other side had his head smashed off by the projectile and his blood burst out from his neck as he fell. He was one of the first thousand to die. The enemy then retaliated with an even stronger blow. Hundreds of massive rocks flew up in the air and came raining right down upon the cavalary, right where I was. The sun was blocked by the deadly missiles as they poured upon us. One was heading straight for me. It was too late to do anything with the horse. I got my feet out of the stirrups and jumped. As I looked back I saw the most horrifying event which occurred in my life. As the rock made impact with the horse. The necked was ripped off with blood going everywhere like a tap left on. The stomach was shredded apart and it's guts flew out to the sides. I was horrified and disgusted that such beauty can be destroyed so quickly. I tripped and rolled onto another dead carcass of a horse and it's rider. The following guy fell off his horse and landed with a heavy thud right next too me. Blood was squirting from his neck as he screamed in pain. Therewas nothing I could do, I was disgusted to say but he died a slow and painful death. The first blood of Haypi has been spilt.

I grabbed my sword and faced my next challenge which awaited me. I was covered in my comrades from head to toe. I now want to make sure there painful and unforgetful sacrafices were worth it. A cavalary member from the enemy charged towards me with his sword raised, ready to slice down and hopefully for him to kill me. I got my sword and shield, ready to parry and strike at him. The time had come, he swung down his sword towards my neck. Luckily my shield had blocked it but the force of the hit put me off balance. I fell backwards on to the hard blood covered ground, but without me noticing my sword had pierced through the horses skin and it intestines spewed all over me. It was such a sickening feeling and look. The horse toppled over crushing it's rider two metres away from me. I had found the opportunity to kill him. I picked up my sword and grabbed his head as he was trying to get himself out from underneath the horse. He screamed as he knew his death was nigh, I had to kill, I must kill him. I stabbed my sword into his neck with dark red blood pouring out from where I had inserted my sword. He gurgled as the blood choked his last scream. I had killed someone. I felt sick about it. I can't take all of this blood and gore any longer. I think I have gone mentally ill as well as physical. I have cuts and grazes all of me, I just stood there staring at the person I just killed. I felt terrible. Before I even noticed it I got struck by a sword in my back. Blood exploded out of my chest. I screamed as the I fell down to the ground in pain. I landed in my pool of red blood. Am I going to drown in my own blood. I laid there, gasping and shuddering from the pain.
'I am going to die,' I thought.
I continued to listen to the screams, shouts, the clanging of swords, the whistling from the arrows flyin across the battle field and the earth shaking thuds which were catapults firing their deadly rocks. I just now wish to die and get all of this noise, pain and torture over and done with. I felt myself starting to take shorter breaths and I was about to die that minute. My last thought was,
'At least I had died for Hapyi....'
And I then became silent and blacked out.

Luckily, the battle was over and just in time Toodoh saw my lying down in my pool of blood. He immediatley called tbe paramedics and I was cured. I am now one of king's noble men with Toodoh and we are now the rulers of Haypi.
"Whatz that country over there?"
"Thatz your mum taking a nap"
