Haypi Article Comp Entry 1 - Odds and Ends Tips
Tips and hints from a player who don’t buy coins. In fact, I never had more than 40 coins at any given time. I’ve never warped to attack. I actually don’t have much pvp experience (less than 10 battles with another person). However, I am currently ranked 15 on s44.
Here are some odds and ends stuff I’ve learned from playing. I am not covering the basics such as how many troops to occupy an oasis or a fort as you could get those information from other guides.
Resources:
1. I identify resources as coins, in-game money, wood, iron, stone, and crop. Of the six, coins are most valuable, followed by money, iron/wood, crop, and then stone.
Coins – You could only get this through in-game purchase, winning some sort of events on forum, daily gifts, becoming an expert on the server, or free through apps. The lack of option to trade for them in-game made this the most valuable resource.
$$$ - you’ll get these trading, daily gifts, and hunts. This is highly assessable but still harder to accumulate than wood and such.
Wood/Iron – aside from being need to upgrade buildings in town, wood and iron are mainly used to build cavs or cats – most common built army in-game. Therefore, they are equally important.
Crop – lets face it, the cats and cavs have to eat…a lot. From my experience on s44, crop is one of the cheapest resources out there but a necessary one.
Stone – mainly used for building stuff in town (including traps), stones are not as important as the other resources.
2. When the server is new, use coins to buy resources (wood, iron) and then sell resources at the market or use them to build your starting army. Resources are at their highest price in the beginning of the server. Therefore, don’t buy them from the market.
3. Buy items needed to upgrade at the market. Save the coins for other purposes.
It is important to understand which resources are important as it would guide you on how to advance in the game. For example, should you buy the scepter with coins or in the market? What resources are worth selling at the market? On s44 currently, a scepter is worth around 200k in-game money or 80 coins. Given that it is easier to accumulate $ than coins, it is better to save the coins for other use like buying a level 15 horse. Also, why bother wasting population on selling stone cheaply in the market when the same number of iron or wood would yield higher profit?
4. Get free coins from downloading apps with free coins offer.
Building up:
1. Focus on building up your cities (first main then subs) and a small force. Get enough catapults for early fort farming and infantry for carrying loads/hunting. If you decide to hit other players for resources, please send a letter to ensure the target is inactive. I personally think it’s rude to raid another active player for resources. However, if you have no problem with that, go ahead without the letter.
2. Once you are able to farm forts, use the resources you get to upgrade city/train troops and then sell the leftovers. This may be the slow way to gain prestige points, but it is effective.
There may be things I’ve forgot to include. This is my first draft.
