Tournaments

The tournaments seem too basic.
What's the purpose to the tournaments?
You don't command.
You don't get to split up troops (each hero takes max of each troop)
You really can't see what the person who you are challenging has, so it's really random what you run into.
Your troop counts are not the same as what you actually have. ( I don't have 6000 knights, but I do in the tournament)
Your not actually playing against the other players.

I think this needs to be looked at.
Maybe use actual troop counts and let the players have more control over the battle config and commanding.
Maybe also give an option to battle live players or NPC controlled versions.

I think the "purpose" of the Tournament is to provide:

- activity (different means of game play and fun)
- prestige
- opportunity to spend gold
- a simple combat format/scenario for players to enjoy easily without over complicating it

It's basically a competition of Heroes. There are some variables that you get to control to better your chances of winning each combat, such as Hero selection and troop selection. Experience will teach you how the AI will play your configurations against other particular configurations.

You can see what your opponent has for troops after you challenge them. You will then have the knowledge for your next try if you lose the first time.

My 2 cents:

The system will max your troops out based on your Hero's abilities. For the purposes of this particular free side-activity, I do not agree with using your own actual troop numbers. It's not about that. If you want to prove yourself using your normal army that you trained yourself, then fight your way to dominance over other players in the "main" game via the World Map.

Posted that a couple weeks ago after the tournament crash bug was fixed.

Biggest thing I'm trying to figure out now is how to get more troops with my heros.
I've upgraded my gear and points, etc,, but I don't seem to get any more troops in the tournament from those upgrades.

A bug or something unintentional by the devs?

There should not be a hard limit if you can keep upgrading and leveling ...

It's odd.

I keep upgrading my gear, leveling, etc,,, but I just can't get more troops in the tournament.

I've tried removing my heros and adding them back in, changing gear, etc.. Nothing seems to work.
