GUIDE: Monster Builder

These are builds that I think are or would be strong, taking into account monster STATS, talents, skills available.
If you have a suggestion that would fit into this, or a correction please do share.

STATS are based on Lv.60 S grade STATS. I broke stats into TIERS in order to make it quicker to judge how good a monster's particular stat is compared to other monsters. The lower the Tier # the stronger the stat. A Tier 1 stat makes it is the very best of the best, legendary monsters usually have these. Where as Tier 15 would be terribly weak.Assume that Tier 6 is average strength.

LEGEND
Tier 1 = 200+
Tier 2 = 190
Tier 3 = 180
Tier 4 = 170
Tier 5 = 160
Tier 6 = 150
Tier 7 = 140
Tier 8 = 130
Tier 9 = 120
Tier 10 = 110
Tier 11 = 100
Tier 12 = 90
Tier 13 = 80
Tier 14 = 70
Tier 15 = 60

Note: HP is judged differently with a -80 modifier

Re: Epic Monster Builds

FIRE TYPE

DRACONIOUS

STATS

HP: Tier 10
ATK: Tier 5
MATK: Tier 6
SPD: Tier 4
DEF: Tier 7
MDEF: Tier 7

MAX STAT BET
HP: Tier 4
ATK: Tier 1
MATK: Tier 1
SPD: Tier 1
DEF: Tier 1
MDEF: Tier 1

Stat Betting
Always stat bet HP to max first. ATK/MATK should be on priority together with SPD.

Overview
Draconious stats are pretty mediocre compared to other epic monsters. He lacks HP, DEF and MDEF. Adaptability is his only useful talent. Draconious's strength lies in his Speed which is his strongest stat, and his ATK which is not great but above average. So make the most use out of him you should aim for maximum damage output confident that you will get to attack first in most cases.

#1 - Dual Duel or Single Player

Talent
Adaptability

Item Equip
Sharp Claw
Winged Boots

Skills
1. Power of Darkness/Celestial Prayer
2. Fire Blast
3. Wild Fire
4. Super Fire Bomb

#2 - 1v1 or Ladder

Talent
Adaptability

Item Equip
Sharp Claw
Winged Boots

Skills
1. Iaijutsu/Power of Darkness/Mind Bending

IGNIGHTMARE

STATS

HP: Tier 9
ATK: Tier 5

MAX STAT BET
HP: Tier 3
ATK: Tier 1
MATK: Tier 1
SPD: Tier 1
DEF: Tier 1
MDEF: Tier 1

Stat Betting
Always stat bet HP to max first. ATK/MATK should be on priority together with SPD.

Overview
Ignightmare just like Draconious suffers from mediocre stats, excelling in Spd and Atk stats only. Does a little less damage than Draconious but is a little faster. The difference maker are the talents, for which Ignightmare doesn't really have any good ones.

#1 - Dual Duel or Single Player

Talent
Intimidate

Sharp Claw
Winged Boots

Skills
1. Power of Darkness/Celestial Prayer

Re: Epic Monster Builds

Akaiyou wrote:The idea i had behind the psychic barrier build that the talent is used essentially to fight other psychic monsters correct?

So considering likely psychic monsters that you would face are Pegasus, Felicity and Purrfection.

Two of those have psychic barrier as well. So you don't want to hit them with psychic moves, thus mind-beinding/psychic trust become dead weights when going against another psychic barrier.

They only come in handy when facing pegasus because of Magic Storm. Psychic Trust is terrible without Magic Storm.

This was my conclusion in detailing that build. That you do NOT want to risk encountering another psychic barrier while only being able to use psychic moves yourself.

I like your build but i think it's mostly only useful against pegasus and you'd have trouble with the other two. Specially with no magic storm.

Also how is CHILL weaker than FIRE BOMB? they both have 90 MATK
And you said Fire Bomb is good but rest is bad? What rest are you talking about??? There's no downside to using Fire Bomb it's 90 ATK just like CHILL

My build of purr barr is only vs all Pega except Barrier cause purr barr always lose vs pega barr if both are full stat bet. So why building a purr which is only effective vs pega barr if he can be effective to other 4 talents of pegas while losing vs pega barr anyway? If you want to kill pega barrier you will need bahamut, fenrir or behemoth, cerb n maybe Planto can do it too.
Yea Chill and FB are same matk but in my experience they both have a lil difference when doing damage to Pega, dont ask me why.

Re: Epic Monster Builds

GRASS TYPE

SMITER

STATS

HP: Tier 7
ATK: Tier 4
MATK: Tier 4
SPD: Tier 6
DEF: Tier 8
MDEF: Tier 8

MAX STAT BET
HP: Tier 1
ATK: Tier 1
MATK: Tier 1
SPD: Tier 1
DEF: Tier 2
MDEF: Tier 2

Stat Betting
Always stat bet HP to max first. Bet on all stats and you'll end up with a well rounded monster

Overview
Smiter has pretty good attack power and speed, but defensively he can't really take a punch, so photosynthesis isn't so good as he is likely to die and you'd be better off attacking and trying to finish off an opponent instead of healing.

#1 - 1v1 or Ladder

Talent
Force II

Item Equip
Sharp Claw
Winged Boots

Skills
1. Razor Leaves
2. Poison Leaves/Iaijutsu
3. Solar Smite
4. Toxic Stake/Power of Darkness

#2 - All Modes

Talent
Overgrow III

Item Equip
Sharp Claw
Winged Boots

Skills
1. Razor Leaves
2. Poison Leaves/Seed Bullets
3. Solar Smite
4. Mind-Bending/Cunning/Nature Boost/Iaijustu

MDEF: Tier 6

MAX STAT BET
HP: Tier 1
ATK: Tier 1
MATK: Tier 2
SPD: Tier 2
DEF: Tier 1
MDEF: Tier 1

Stat Betting
Always stat bet HP to max first. ATK/MATK primary focus and then invest on defenses.

Overview
Pattafly a great monster, decent HP and defense while being superb in ATK. Pattafly lacks MATK and Spd both they are both negligible making Pattafly one of the best epics around.

#1 - All Modes

Talent
Force II
Bolster

Item Equip
Sharp Claw

Skills
1. Razor Leaves/Iaijutsu
2. Poison Leaves
3. Solar Smite
4. Power of Darkness/Photosynthesis

MATK: Tier 1
SPD: Tier 1
DEF: Tier 3
MDEF: Tier 1

Stat Betting
Always stat bet HP to max first. Boost all stats prioritizing ATK/MATK

Overview
Faerivy is a monster! A true glass cannon completely outclasses Smiter and gives pattafly a run for it's money being able to put a lot more damage but it's low defenses can make it fall victim to easy OHKOs.

#1 - All Modes

Talent
Malicious

Item Equip

Re: Epic Monster Builds

I don't really agree with half of these to be honest. The builds seem overly complex for example water torrent on clawpard? I think not. It seems to me that you haven't really taken into consideration the atk drop in off element moves it drops by 50% I believe. So really for ladder you want a basic set up pod weather and two attacking moves generally. So for clawpard FA3 AB chill pod blizzard strong and effective. Inverse can also be used with mind bend instead of pod for those pesky bahamuts. If you are thinking about PVP builds then you want moves like foresight lethal powder and soak. Basically not relying on brute strength. So for example on a needles I would have pod soak lethal powder+1 and maybe hypnosis. Well done for thinking of all the builds but if you decide to play seriously for a long amount of time then you will get scroll legends which are far better than epics. Try to save moves like pod etc for your future scroll. Epics are only temporary.

EARTH TYPE

BRAWNY

STATS

HP: Tier 6
ATK: Tier 2
MATK: Tier 8
SPD: Tier 12
DEF: Tier 5
MDEF: Tier 8

Overview
Brawny is typically understimated, but he is extremely powerful dishing out extreme ATK damage while having solid defenses to survive retaliation.

#1 - All Modes

Talent
Sand Theraphy I
Formation I

Item Equip
Sharp Claw

Skills
1. Sand Storm
2. Boulder
3. Massive Boulder
4. Earthquake/Martyrdom/PoD

#2 - 1v1 or Ladder

Talent
Armor III

Item Equip
Sharp Claw

4. PoD

SCYTHE

STATS

HP: Tier 7
ATK: Tier 4
MATK: Tier 9
SPD: Tier 6
DEF: Tier 5
MDEF: Tier 8

Overview
Scythe tends to be THE go to Earth epic for most players, thanks sigle-handedly to it's Resurrect talent, allowing it to abuse Martyrdom better than Brawny, which due to it's inferior stats will become it's Staple attack.

Re: Epic Monster Builds

I don't use epics so I don't fully know how well each of them perform in PVP/ ladder but I do have a good idea on how good each of them are. In my opinion FA3 and overgrow 3 are two of the best talents available when it comes to epics. So a overgrow 3 pod smiter would be a good monster to use. Epics aren't my speciality though I only use OEl for ladder and scroll for PvP. As a general rule off element moves are bad to put on monsters the damage decrease is normally to low for much of a difference to be made. Although there are some exceptions of course. How close are you to getting scroll legends?
