Setanic and Gryphion

Are these monsters good enough to beat other OELs?

I'm building my Setanic and Gryphion with Fort 2 planned.
Can these monsters beat oels like behemoth and fenrir?

Spent a fortune without any OEL and now I'm left with only free legendaries as options. I am not really sure how strong these monsters will be. I'm going to get POD on them.

Re: Setanic and Gryphion

Setanic can easily beat a Behemoth by casting Sandstorm when Behemoth is trying to cast Heat Wave, that's like an easy 50% damage total. Furthermore, Behemoth's DEF is terrible, so the fact that Setanic is heavily depending on ATK is another plus. One or two Iaijutsu's should be enough when PoDed.

Gryphion overall is quite the powerhouse, just watch out for strong non-Earths though, like Pegasus, Fenrir and Bahamut. Other than that, it'll be a great addition!

Re: Setanic and Gryphion

Thanks!

I have the only Pegasus in the server, but I can't seem to beat another player with 2 Bahamuts running resurrect. He also has Fenrir and Behemoth, so I'm having a little bit of trouble.

Re: Setanic and Gryphion

Harmful weathers work wonders against Resurrect monsters, so I would definitely suggest to put them on a monster when trying to counter a monster with Resurrect!

Re: Setanic and Gryphion

Setanic:

Full stat bet except -> ! 0 Speed !
Talent: Invalidate
Skills: MB+5-6 x3, Sandstorm

This Setanic build kills all Bahamuts even with Punishment.
I would recommend you to change Fort into Inv as you have trouble
with Bahamuts especially against Res ( which Sandstorm is perfect for )

If you have Sphierx it beats every Behe or Fenrir easily with SFB+5 and vs
Res Fen/Behe i would recommend full stat bet sphierx

Setanic loses everytime vs Behe Heat Wave Talent.
I want to see a Setanic who beats a full stat bet behe heat. :) ( of course without dodging 5 times in a Fight )

Gryph Rain atk up is my favourite. He is very useful vs Levi and Hydra even without stat bet and only STS+1. After full stat bet it can kill some Chimeras
Behes and Fenrirs while Rain is up.

Re: Setanic and Gryphion

shoot, I've already put POD on my setanic. I was gonna use Fort 2 - Iaijutsu - boulder - sandstorm. Is this going to work as well?

There is also a minotaur / behe / fenrir line up that I'll have to defend against. So far, Pegasus seems to be doing an excellent job killing minotaur.

I wanted to use Invalidate setanic + m.boulders but it seems like monsters don't cast POD against invalidate monsters, which seemed to be a downfall.

Re: Setanic and Gryphion

It's always possible to win in ladder even with just "Free" Legends. ;) You just have to build them correctly.

Re: Setanic and Gryphion

For those of you who passed TF/OA expert, I had a few questions about line-up.

1. Do I need a fire monster for these two maps?

2. Is Leviathan going to be useful? I have soak on leviathan that I was planning to change to rain prayer some time soon. Rain prayer on Leviathan seems to make a world of difference in ladder.

3. Fort 2 Setanic or sand therapy?

4. What monsters would you recommend for these two maps?

Currently, I have Clawpard, Setanic, Neon, Pegasus, Gryphion, and Leviathan.

Re: Setanic and Gryphion

Hey dooboosoda,

1) I used a non-statbet Intimidate Ignightmare without any skills solely to lower the bosses' ATK, helped out quite a bit!

2) In my opinion, Leviathan is the best free Legendary there is, and is useful in almost any Expert Map. It's extremely useful in Ocean Abyss, a bit less in Thorny Forest though.

3) Seeing how not a lot of maps allow weather changing, I'd go with Fortitude-II. Also, Sand-Therapy-II is only useful if your monster is built to last (aka not versus monsters that have the elemental advantage).

4) It has been a while since I did both Thorny Forest and Ocean Abyss Expert, so I can't give you a very detailed recommendation, but I do know that Ignightmare, Smiter, Fenrir and Minotaur (Clawpard and Setanic in your case) were very useful in Thorny Forest.
Ocean Abyss is a different story though. There are so many different elements that it's hard to give a definite monster. However, Leviathan, Gryphion, Pegasus and Clawpard should make it a whole lot easier!

Best of luck with your Expert Maps!

Koen
