Remember when Lupa was "OP"?

I've been thinking - more like boredom since I can't fall asleep again - about the game since its introduction to the world. This game has been one of my favourite iOS games to date, but a few beat this game hands-down (Cut the Rope, I'm looking at you!), besides the point though. When I first played this game, I was only thinking "Pokemon ripoff, pokemon ripoff, pokemon ripoff..." As I got further in Miracle Sea I started to think differently about the game. It fun - irritating to roll a 1, but the feeling of good anticipation when you roll a 6 - and different from Pokemon... almost.

I've been with this game since the first week of release, my brother showed it to me on release day and I tossed it aside to play some BF3 and Minecraft xD. So I've been on here a while, meaning I should have some concrete knowledge of this game. At the beginning like during the time when beating miracle sea took a while to do, I managed to make it to the top of ladder a couple times on my server - never happened again >.> after mid January. I was just using the cruddy little branchy we get and my oh so bad Draco, I think I had the worst on in the game. Other people, they did this thing called Team Mode which I stayed away from for god knows why. So they had Octobuds and Oogways on their teams, easy pickings for me. And then the time of the Lupa rolled around. When rares were the number one monsters in this game, it was the most fun. I remember winning one match and losing another against the same guy - no weather, no PoD, no S rank even! It was all strategy! To see who could buff their monsters at the right time and debut the oppenents'. So what if you had 4 Lupa? My Shriek could've taken them on and laughed, water beads, shadow swipe and ambush my way to a win. So what if you have 4 Shriek on a team? Blocky and Champ could take of the with ease. It was fun, not a clobber-fest like it is now, what with all the legendaries and self-reviving suicide bombers -.-

Where has all the fun gone? It left with the introduction of epics IMO. Epics were attainable far too early in this game. The pool of common and uncommon monsters should've been much larger, like a ratio of 30:20:5:5 - common to epic. Yes 5 different rares and epics per scene! 30 different grass type commons in jungle! 20 uncommons! This would've shot this game sky high in fun-factor. Everyone would've been thinking Does he have monster A? Or maybe monster Q? Crap, what if he has monster F? for the commons! Uncommons would just be rarer than uncommons, with better designs to boot. (In my honest opinion, the only thing that should separate the tiers of rarity, other than rarity itself, would have to be design of the monsters. Commons would be drabish, uncommons have some color, rares could seem like normal pokemon, epics with shadow gradients and outlines, legendaries with some extra badassery in them)

Why so many epics? Why so many rares? I honestly believe that this game should've been launched with 350+ monsters, but that's just me. Each rare can fill a different roll in a team, each rare is a different monster, and some rares wouldn't even have the types of their respective scenes. Why would one single rare have to represent a whole scene? Make several represent one single scene!

As for epics, they should've been attainable as the base monster off the wheel with a selectable gender from expert mode. Yes, epics should've been only attainable in expert modes! What's the point of calling them epic if you can get them after a few hours of work? It should take days to get your first epic from a scene. Their catalysts could be made obtainable in the veteran wheels only so that way people could at least have a chance of being ready to evolve them once they get the epics.

In order to get different epics, you would have to complete the same 5/10/15 levels in each scene to switch the epic or rare monster you find on the wheel in expert or veteran or team mode. Ie epic A is available now in Jungle Expert, in order to change epic A to epic B, I would have to beat all 5 levels in Jungle Expert. I then get a popup window asking if I want to change the epic available. There would be five different epics - the ones you don't have silhouetted - with equal chance of getting them all, except for the one you currently have.

And on a side note for veteran and expert attempts, would've allotted 25 attempts daily with out any ways to increase it other than paying silver, then gold.

Only team mode would reward scrolls not base rare monsters. And then monsters such as boarbarian would've been made obtainable to all in a way similar to the flaunt scrolls but instead on team mode wheels.

This is all what-if, and I have more, but thinking about how this game could've been much better is actually quite depressing when you realize that it's too late to do anything about it. :(

Not really a suggestion that should be posted there, but more of a general paperclip for us to do with what ifs. Also, if there are any people who'd complain about grammar or spelling, I typed this all up on an iPad... Boredom gets to ya...

A very short posting from me to response this long version of you:
I played this Game from its very first week too and i like your posting
i agree to almost everything u wrote.
If HM did not make almost all monsters buyable with real cash then this
Game would have been more fun more exciting and more competetive
and maybe more strategize. Haypi monster would have do other things be buyable. Why this Game is so fast in updating and content? Haypi want their money fast in their bucket! Thats all! They do like 1m in a month and as they see there is still people who spend 1000$ a month they will still bring fast new content with monsters in eggs or boxes or in mirrors or whatever!
There are a few people here in this game who dont care about money and thats what haypi is for!
I dont wanted to write those sentences again but i still love this gAme and i play it until its not playable without real cash.

Agrees with you, it wouldnt take too long before the end you described draws near. With the current update and legendaries, its very hard the get these legendaries for poeple who dont buy tons of coins. The free one are very hard to get, they are less powerfull (stats + talents) compared to the buyables from the eggs. I'm barely hanging on with the epics i got, it wouldnt take long before my epic becomes worthless. When it reaches that point, its gg for me.

I rlly like playing this game, at some point it actually improves the pokemon gameplay, 2 bad this is a FTP game instead of a game for 10 -15 bucks, with equal chances for all.

Re: Remember when Lupa was "OP"?

I started this game in late March, and an Easter event kicks in, which I became a VIP2 gamer. It was pretty good in the beginning, until I realized the hardness of Sealed Space. I've asked on Tieba, and I found a good post from a guy called Jason. Jason was the mod of Tieba, and one day I saw him chatting with his friends of pros. Then I started to synthesize my first epic, Smiter, and I stupidly leveled my D- Smiter to level 25, but still SS is too hard for me. Suddenly I noticed that there's something called breeding. So I got another Smiter for 60k silver, and I was broke. Everyday I team moded Stone Vault, and I used 2 gold each day to exchange silver. For 2 weeks I was breeding, team moding, and exchanging silvers. April 25, I got my first pure S monster!
So I passed SS with mostly Smiter and Draconius. Then I continued my breedings, and May 10, I got my S Oogway. May 25: S Ignightmare. June 1: S Neo. June 8: S Meniss. June 15: S Scythe, and another the following day. June 27: S Boopie.

TO BE CONTINUED......

Re: Remember when Lupa was "OP"?

I agree with you but this is how almost every single online game goes.. this happened in way too many games I played , when they started they were hella fun with few options but later it gets destroyed. However, if you think of it , it will be super boring if they wouldn't updated it.. What else can they do? (I know there are many stupid in-game things , like the eggs which is the most unfair way to get legendaries ..)

This is life ; when we were children it was fun but later we grew and the fun stopped , same goes for many games :)

Re: Remember when Lupa was "OP"?

The game is way too easy now. I remember when i played hours to evolve twiggy to branchy. It was even more difficult to get my first blocky.
If you start you get a exp card level 2 for almost every level you complete.
You get exp cards from gift boxes and daily log in bonus. Within a couple of hours you have a level 25 branchy and a level 25 draconius and no problems with any levels.
Things like 5/5 teammode and exp cards for every level you complete let you get high money and high level monsters in a short time

Exactly, there is no gap at all between the veteran players and new people. The new people are even luckier with eggs than the veterans, which allows them to be able to easily beat us in ladder and pvp. Especially considering how they have no clue how to play too.

Re: Remember when Lupa was "OP"?

I totally agree. I remember back when pvp was fun, and you had to make predictions and stuff. Now it is so many SAME strategies. I can understand Haypi making it so people who buy get bonuses, but now it is pretty much suicide scythe, PoD neon with taunt pewg, or just a bunch of legendaries on a team. Really kinda made the game boring for me. I pretty much only do pvp now like 3 days later when all the guys that do this are outranked for me. So thanks Haypi for giving this game a 72 hour cooldown :)

Re: Remember when Lupa was "OP"?

Games have to move on in order to keep their customers.
Yes, this is annoying as a veteran player, but elsewise this game would've been dead by now.
Finally back on track and ready to help you guys :D!
