Yes, when a player makes an account, he gets the option to add a PAL code.

I for one think you should be able to add 1 (one) extra pal to your pals list. Me and my friend got the game at the same time. I tried to enter his code but we didn't know if the O was a zero or the letter. After I entered it the game took me through the tutorial so we thought I had entered it correctly. Turns out that when i went to my pals list my friend was not on there. Now not only can we not add each other as pals but we cannot help out with bosses or other "pal help". So I think you should be able to add 1 (one) extra pal as long as you get the code correct. If the code you enter isn't a code then why does it take you through the tutorial?
