What are stages in the stats?

I've read in some posts about some skills increasing/reducing the stats by one stage or two.

What is the meaning of stage? and how do you compute them? do a certain amount of points in a stat define a stage, and each stage is the one that counts towards the power?

I think when they say "stage" it means additional. Such as Shadow swipe, can increase Matk. Once it increases 1 time that would be stage 1, increase the second time would be stage 2. Now as for how much each stage would be I have no idea.

As Bullhead said, a stage is a stat increase. Basically, if you use PoD, all your skills will be raised by one stage. Using Cunning on a monster will decrease the monster's MDEF by two stages - as it decreases it significantly. A War Cry decreases the opponent's monster's MATTK by one stage. I think you get the drift. ^^

So the stage is just made by the community? mmm.. how do you know that PoD doesn't increase the stats by two stages instead of one? trial and error? or just guessing?

I still think we need numbers in the descriptions of the skills and talents... :|

Lexoph wouldn't POD be 2 stages? since shadow swipe increases matk by 1 stage each time? Isnt POD stronger than that?
AdnofFire,
I agree about the numbers, POD is an crease of 25% to all stats. (2 stages) A 1 stage I assume is 10%. I could be wrong. That info is from Previous posts and player testing. I think "stage" is just a term they use because someone threw it out there to use.

Re: What are stages in the stats?

From what I can gather from reading various forum topics and what was said here; stages in descriptions are:

"Slightly" - 1 Stage
"Significantly" - 2 Stages
"Immensely" - 3 Stages

If it doesnt specifically mention how much the stat change will be, it will be slightly/1 stage.

From what I can guess about the actual damage boost, each stage is probably 50% since that seems to be the amount for STAB and elemental advantage boosts.

For Technician and Adaptability talents, they either provide a partial stages worth of boost, or a flat rate boost to the total damage (like +10 damage regardless of attack damage) because the increase is fairly minimal in my experience.

Although Im curious about my Smiter's, am I better off with Overgrow III (which pretty much 1-hit KOs everything I hit when it is triggered) or Force II for more consistent damage.

I have force on my smiter, its nice but it doesnt feel like its as strong as say adapt on draco. On the other hand, I never had overgrow, but I have been hit with it! WOW! but how reliable is overgrow? Like you said force is more consistent, but its also Atk, so the Matk skills dont get boosted.

The surefire way to trigger it is by putting Simple Healing Potion.. Though this is kinda costly, Based on my experience.. Overgrow 3 + Celestial Prayer kills PoD-casted S Vertedeath w/ Solar Smite..

Re: What are stages in the stats?

It's much more than 10%. I remember while leveling up my Meniss with Shadow Swipe the first couple attacks on a big HP monster like a Champ did pitiful damage. But once I get the a couple MATK increases the last hit takes out half it's health.

I'm talking like low 20% total health first attack, second gets it down to ~50% last hit kills it if the MATK boost triggers every time.

And as far as Overgrow III is concerned, it's good enough that I never bothered using my Epic Runes to even try for Force II. Generally when I get to Sub-30% health I attack first and nothing survives a Razor Leaves. I imagine Force II I would end up in more situations where the opponent gets a chance to counter attack.
