About originality some people fuss so much about~

Pokemon was based off insect fighting. Anyways the idea wasn't really original, I believe the creator got inspiration from an anime with aspects similar to Pokemon.

And let's face it, we are all inspired by different things. When playing Haypi, one can't just ignore the similarities with pokemon, but thats okay. Actually, Haypi did a good job inspiring itself from one of the most popular handheld console game, and gave its its own feel, atmosphere... I think thats cool and in its own way creative. I can't wait to see the new upgrades and see where they are heading towards.

And before people start throwing threats at me, I am against IP theft. Taking an existing monster from pokemon or elsewhere, changing its colour or adding on extra feature doesn't make it you own creative work. And in my opinion, that should be condemned.

But we should also be tolerant in realising that sometimes there is a fine line between IP infringement and inspiration.

Insect fighting doesn't count, it's a natural occurrence but yes I guess Pokemon did copy but it was the original mainstream game that has branched off so well.

He didnt really tell me off. He called me a racist despite the fact that he comes from what is considered one of the most racist countries in the world and the fact that nothing I said was racist as none of it was irrational or false, specifically false and based off of stereotypes. there is a difference between similarities and straight out copyright infringement. Also you think all pokemon are "original". highly unlikely

I wouldn't say it's was the original mainstream at all. More like the one that just got lucky with it's attention and fanbase.

they did copy off of pokemon. Not just in the monsters themselves but in moves and in abilities they didnt even try changing the names of some of the moves and abilities. they also copied pokemon's status effects and 31 IV system (the system of how high a monsters stats are haypi put in the grades to hide this (S, A+, A, A-, etc.) some examples of these moves and abilities are: no guard, fire blast, intimidate, own tempo, poison powder, etc. now some ripoffs are: electrified teeth (thunder fang) water jets (aqua jet) relay (baton pass) burn (ember) electric net (spider web) paralysis powder (stun spore) smack (quick attack) solar smite (frenzy plant), absolute zero (sheer cold) this is just a small example of moves in haypi monster and pokemon that share the same effects power and in most cases accuracy but then again game freak decided not to put their games on IOS systems thus haypi saw this opportunity and took advantage of it but who could blame them of coping off of something as great as the pokemon empire
