Revisiting Invalidate and Adaptability

Hi Everyone,
I'm sure this topic has been well discussed already but I'm not convinced it has been clarified just yet. Everyone can pretty much say that invalidate nullifies adaptability, but just by reading the description of these talents something is off.
Invalidate: When your monster is in combat, the increase/decrease of stats will become ineffective on all monsters.
Adaptability: When your monster attacks with a skill that matches its element, the skill will deal more damage.

Adapt does not increase the stats of your monster when it attacks, only the skill damage. Technically invalidate should not affect adaptability. Please clarify.
And if invalidate was intended to nullify adapt, shouldn't it also affect weather effects? Sunny weather increases the skill damage of a fire element monster's fire element skill. So theoretically, it's mechanics are the same with adapt. Not only does invalidate makes stat increase/decrease ineffective, skill damage increase/decrease are also ineffective.

Re: Revisiting Invalidate and Adaptability

You're overthinking it.
Plenty of Talents don't do exactly what they say they do.
Finally back on track and ready to help you guys :D!

They have to renew skill descriptions... Some are old and wrong or not
Precise.

Re: Revisiting Invalidate and Adaptability

I just wanted to investigate further since I'm revamping my team to focus around invalidate.

Re: Revisiting Invalidate and Adaptability

Guys tell me if this is right.

In 2v2 pvp, my partner has invalidate neon has his 2nd monster, on my first monster i use Pod. When he switches to Neon My pod buff still stays on. Of course if he has Neon in battle when Pod is cast it invalidates it. So invalidate's description of "when in combat increase/decrease of stats is voided" is correct. It's not supposed to clear an existing stat increase like Flush does?

If it's true invalidate stops adapt, does it also stop Formation?

No invalidate is "supposed" to stop adapt, but it still does same damage with adapt and no invalidate or with adapt + invalidate, is what the guy is getting at. There's a glitch, invalidate activated when adapt does but it doesn't cancel it.

As long as you cast pod before his neon comes in the field. Invalidate cannot stop it if its already used.
And that's a good question. Technically no, because it's not raising any stats. Big emphasis on technically. It only says your earth type moves gets stronger.

Re: Revisiting Invalidate and Adaptability

Technically Invalidate should not effect Adapt.

Adapt increases the damage done on STAB attacks. It does not raise any stats.

If it raises stats than damage would be increased on all attacks not just same element attacks.

Re: Revisiting Invalidate and Adaptability

More damage than normally = trigger.
This includes Adapt & weather.
