How does Watersprout work exactly?

I am thinking of getting this for my Pewgway, my concerns are:

- if i use this against a neon or rhor with PoD casted and hit me with STS, will it cast before they do?
- if so, will my monster die but still inflict damage or
- will it just negate the attack and bounce the damage back and still be alive?

I'm not sure about waterspout but I know with the two mirror moves if you die then the damage won't be reciprocated, which is why it's best to put it on a tank like hippo. The damage will always be done to you though, it isnt foresight it won't stop an attack, it just sends any damage you receive to the attacker but you still take that damage. If it blocked damage AND returned it then it would just be ridiculously overpowered. A Cerberus with it (well with the mirrors in this case) would go first so he can cast it before the enemy attacks, he wouldn't receive any damage as long as he has that move up and can just sit there.

It does do the same damage, just not hp. If you have lets say 20% hp left then the other monster won't be brought down to 20% too. You also have to take into account the defense of your monster versus his and the attack of the two. Honestly I think the mirror moves are the only ones worth the trouble, mainly cause they double the damage done.

Water Spout:

- You inflict the same damage your monster got back to the opponent's monster.
- You will still suffer the damage, it just copies that and uses it on your opponent's monster.
- If you die before you can cast the move, you won't deal the supposed reciprocated damage.
- From the previous point, you have to cast it first before it works so you do have to be alive for it.

Thanks to Lord.Rex for explaining it fully as well. I just put those up as a summary for Water Spout. Mirror Shield and Magic Mirror works only on physical and magical skills, respectively. However, they double the damage before dealing it.

How about punishment? Should i get that for a Meniss or this is not the good monster for it? I dont have Verte on the side note. But i do have have a Force III Rhor is that okay?

Force increases attack, not matk. With punishment being matk force won't do anything, honestly though it's only useful for pod monsters, and rhor is pretty weak so a monster with pod can take him out pretty easily unless he uses it too. I would say put it on either a S meniss, S vertedeath, or S fenrir as they all have pretty good defense and matk. If they have pod that's a plus.

I don't think Punishment works on monsters, other than Ghost types.
I think that there is a bug at the moment where it allows monsters, like Rhor, to be able to learn it but when you try to use it, it doesn't do anything.

If this is true and assuming that it is, because there isn't a notice to fix any problem regarding this skill, it's really only usable by Vertedeath and Meniss, for competitive battles anyway.
It would work as your secondary attack for ladder battles as they usually use Cunning. However, normally, Cunning + Punishment is not a good combo because the MDEF decrease provided by Cunning actually makes Punishment weaker. But if you plan on creating an all around Vertedeath/Meniss, this may work. In ladder, as mentioned, it will keep using Cunning until it loses the PP. In PvP, Punishment is an excellent move against PoD users.

At this moment, I don't know which one is the bug because it doesn't work with one or two of my monsters - then again, I haven't tried with the others as I don't want to waste wisdom essences.

It might be the same as Ice types being able to learn Earth type skills before (or the other way around).
