I just had a pvp 1:1 battle with my S Pattafly, no PoD, against another guy with S Smiter, with PoD. It wasn't that close. I used leaf shield on my Pattafly and I sponged everything he had to throw at me. I started at like 220 health, by the time I knocked out his Smiter, 3 turns later, I had lost only 100 hp. No critical hits, just one defence boost from leaf shield.

Pattafly is definitely better. If it had more speed, it'd be much better than most epics IMO. Right now, I think that it's one of the better epics. Faster than flight, hits harder than flight, get STAB poison leaves - the second most debilitating 90 power move IMO. Pattafly is more than alright, it's great!

I do agree that it is certainly not as useless as some players make it out to be.
However, I am be as enthusiastic as you when it comes to this monster. It's good but it's certainly not that good.
I guess it really also plays out on the skill sets. Some skill sets are better than others. You won your battle because you had that Leaf Shield. If your opponent's Smiter also had Leaf Shield, it might not be the same story.
It really goes down to strategies!

Also, with regards to types, I don't feel that Plant is a particularly good one. I would rank it quite low on my list. The reason being is that there are less Celestial Prayers being casted, than Sand Storm and Rain Prayer. The new legendary monsters from the eggs are both at an advantage, type-wise, against Plant types. Leviathan and Setanic are at a disadvantage but there are far less of them at the moment because they are much harder to acquire.
Quitted!

Well for one thing he had PoD, and for another, most people have scythe as a staple of their teams. This thing is designed to sponge a scythe and then kill it! It has no other purpose xD

Plus, it can survive pretty well on its own as most people don't have fire type moves on their monsters, and more people are using Cerberus rather than Fenrir. So I can get the weather bonus, barely live after an attack and then hope for a critical plus poison dropping an S rank Cerberus from full health to 3/5! I love this guy!

It certainly will be a good monster against Scythe!

However, with Cerberus in sunny weather, Pattafly will be defeated after 1 hit. It will only be useful if the Cerberus actually casts the weather. In ladder, if Cerberus is at an advantage, it will try and kill the opponent's monster first. Cerberus is also faster. It will certainly not hold its own against Cerberus - usually.

However, as I said, it's certainly not useless. It will be extremely useful soon, I'm sure as the new monster in the egg seems to be a Water-type - if it follows the trend.
I'm sure more people will flock to get Pattafly when this Water legendary monster comes out.

I won't. Look at how the legendaries are thus far, fenrir can beat fire types, cerb can beat rock and water types, I'd bet hydra can beat electric and plant types easy

This doesn't help when my main motive in including that in my post is to simply provide comfort that Pattafly is not useless (to other players).

However, I take your point. Fortitude-2 monsters will easily beat Pattafly.
During rain, Plant-type skills will have reduced power as well so this is another let down.
