Cyntinell's Scouting Guide
Hello!
I've decided to share a few scouting tips and tricks. With this information, you can all scout like pros in no time!
1. Biggest tip: Scan over the map looking for high level players holding low level crop oasis. I look for 5-7 level crop oasis. This means someone hasn't updated their crops and may be starving. Also, I don't scout level 1-4 crop because those have most like been hit already.
2. Scout oasis!! Scout primarily level 9-10. With at least 500 cats needed to take a level 9, it's 5k pp a pop at least.
3. When scouting and crop levels are low (under 25k), wait a few minutes and scout again. If it's gone down, they have negative crop and will starve shortly. Check them in a bit and you may find troops there.
4. Scout talkers on world chat. They often leave troops out. If you choose not to attack, at least you know their numbers.
5. Scout immediately when you see a hunt pull announcement. Same logic as above.
6. When randomly scouting, I imagine a grid by about 100x100 squares. Move methodically through the grid scouting each city over about level 8 or so. Scout about 20 at a time. When finished, go to your mailbox to see what you've found. The first letter in your box will be the last city/oasis you scouted. Don't delete it! Keep it. Go through all the rest, deleting them as you view them. When finished, open the saved letter (your first report) and click on the 'find on map' link. This will take you back to the last city you scouted which is where you left off. Start scouting again from that point.
7. Open your buy/sell trade letters. If someone if buying wood/iron from you, they are building. Watch them. They may leave new build troops out later. Scout them a few times over the day.
8. Scout edges and the bottom of the map. Less populated areas are scouted less often because most people only scout within a few minutes of their cities. If scouting for warpers, look in less populated areas.
9. Don't give up. Just because you scouted someone yesterday, doesn't mean they won't have troops out today.
10. Be methodical and patient. You will get results.
Well, this is all I can think of at the moment. I really enjoy being a scout, and hope my experience will help you all find targets for yourselves.
